New to nails (Gel or BIAB)

So, I’ve never had gel nails before (I only ever paint my own nails) but I actually want something to last this summer. I have a 2 week holiday, active UK break and then a week relaxing in Greece (but there will be no time in between to get my nails done) so I’ll need them done before the UK break.

I am thinking I should get gel nails on my feet but for hands, would BIAB be better than gel? How long does gel usually last? I’d like it to still look nice by the time I get to Greece (after an outdoorsy holiday in Devon).

Thank you!

I would say that BIAB lasts a lot longer than bell. I get mine done every 3 to 4 weeks and they very rarely chip or lift.

BIAB is a thicker and stronger version of gel. It’s good if you’ve got thin nails otherwise gel is fine.

I usually get 3 weeks out of mine, before the regrowth gets too bad. Paler colours are better to disguise the regrowth.

I’ve recently had BIAB and I really like them. Gel lasts fine for at least 5-6 weeks on my toes but chips within days on my fingers? BIAB lasts really well (I am outdoorsy too and hard on my hands), they don’t chip or break and still look good after 2-3 weeks. I have an infill usually every 2 weeks because I don’t like the regrowth.

Some salons do a biab base and a shellac top coat, this allows you to chose a colour (biab are neutral). I would go for biab only on fingers and you will get longer out of them.

I've only ever had gels and it doesn't chip for me. The regrowth starts giving me the ick at about 3 weeks.

Agree with pp that BIAB will work best for your fingernails. I get at least three weeks from mine - i stick with the Teddy nude colour when I leave it longer than that so the regrowth is not too obvious

Thanks everyone, really helpful thank you! Now at least I won’t look stupid when booking.
