Shorts virgin - how do I sort my legs?

I’ve decided this summer (only on holiday!) to wear the damn shorts. I feel like this is a mental hurdle as I really don’t like my legs. I’m not overweight though legs are a bit chunky and I want to make them look better. What works? I’m really pale so even gradual tan can look patchy. Think I’ve got some This Works perfect legs somewhere so interested to know if anyone rates that. The skin is smooth on my calves and I wax so no prickles. But knees look rough. I’ve enough time before holiday to put the work in but need some tips. I exercise regularly including weights - it’s more the appearance I want to improve.

I'm convinced. I’ll wear the damn shorts. All the PPs who said the exposure lessens the impact, I think you’re right. I just need to go for it. I never look at anyone else’s legs in shorts and think they look horrific, so I just need to bite the bullet! @PierreLeBear - I’m really looking forward to the “I can’t believe they’re my legs” moment!
@Trickedbyadoughnut that’s what I need to feel… the liberation. I have bought two pairs of shorts, which is probably two more than I’ve ever owned as an adult.
@2ndbestslayer you are so right, they’re just legs. I need to acclimatise to seeing them. Men would not feel the same about wearing shorts.

Not so sure about the "men" comment. DH used to have a hang up about his legs die to being v skinny as a youth. He's now got over it and wears shorts in the summer.

How pale is your pale? Im bone china white, and all the oils and creams don't make me tan, they just make me shiny white. Rimmel do a wash off light fake tan which is worth a go as a cheaper trial run.
I can't be bothered very often though, suncream on the legs and wear the shorts.

@turkeyboots yes the same white. Fake tan is useless mostly.
@unbalancedBella maybe it should have read “most” men. Glad your DH is comfortable getting his pins out.

I didn't understand the compulsion to wear shorts in hot weather - especially denim ones . They are the least satisfactory thing to wear in hot weather.

It does depend on the shorts but some can be super comfy - no chub rub!

I have the nuxe gold, it gives a lovely impression of having been kissed by the sun and smells wonderful

I was just the same but have taken up a sport where I wear shorts and no one cares what your legs look like. Mine now have colour for the first time in 50 years! Tbh - especially if you are on holiday - no one cares.
