These shoes look weird, don't they?

I'm looking for some casual summer shoes that aren't trainers. I really like the woven style of these shoes but I think they look horrible on...opinions? I haven't bought an odd pair, I have them in cream and brown to try.

Yeah they look weird

BatchCookBabe · 06/06/2025 17:30

Very weird 'shoes.' You could only wear them in the house surely???

MrsKateColumbo · 06/06/2025 17:31

They look like those jelly shoes we all had in the 90s, so fine if that's something you liked?

MummytoE · 06/06/2025 17:33

They are weird looking. Tan/ sunburn lines in them would be funny

Jelly shoes/sandals were made of plastic though. These are made of fabric! As I said, you could only wear them in the house.

BatchCookBabe · 06/06/2025 17:35

Also, £40 for these is batshit. Way too much IMO.

DollopOfFun · 06/06/2025 17:42

Yes they do.

I sympathise though, I bought some nude (beige) 'mesh' flats online, and when I tried them on I didn't know whether it would be better to cut off my feet or gouge out my eyes. Revolting.

FadedRed · 06/06/2025 17:45

Sorry Op, they look like the house slippers everyone’s Nan crocheted with left over wool from the obligatory Christmas jumper.

Alarae · 06/06/2025 17:45

I saw someone wearing this style at the airport a couple of weeks ago. I thought they looked weird.

Grumplington · 06/06/2025 17:57

Sorry, these look horrible and not comfortable either

Sunshineaftertherain1 · 06/06/2025 18:52

Thank you all. You've convinced me of what I already know...they're hideous.

They're already packaged up to return on Monday!

Ew, I’m waiting for a little toe to pop out. No

BCBird · 06/06/2025 20:20

There would not be any support either OP.

Kweeen · 06/06/2025 23:01

Your feet will get filthy.

MidnightMeltdown · 07/06/2025 12:11

They’re ok if wearing to the beach or around the pool on holiday. Not sure where else you would wear them though. Maybe as summer slippers?!

Gettingbysomehow · 07/06/2025 13:22

I actually like them. Anthropologie does exactly the same ones but Mary Jane style.
They would look great on holiday with some linen trousers.

RosesAndHellebores · 07/06/2025 13:23

So many bits of them to rub.

Branleuse · 07/06/2025 13:26

I guess that they would be for people that need something more feminine than a fisherman sandal, as its court shoes shaped,? Like a sandal for the workplace?
I dunno. They look awful

Yatzydog · 07/06/2025 19:02

I have heard (jess thingy from the guardian) that these jelly shoes are going to be big this summer. (Not for me though!)

After the abominations she suggested for wedding guest dresses I wouldn’t set any store by any of her recommendations. 😂

hereismydog · 07/06/2025 22:28

They remind me of the little foam nets they put on pieces of fruit to protect them Grin

Palestar · 07/06/2025 22:30

It's harder to judge when you've put one of each colour on!

isitmeamithedrama · 07/06/2025 23:07

My wee toe would be fighting to get out those holes. They’re hideous I can’t imagine anyone looking good in them

DeSoleil · 07/06/2025 23:17

Hideous. Burn them.

LightandBreezy · 07/06/2025 23:50

@AppleDumplingWithCustard tbf to Jess, she didn't write the shocking wedding guest article, she wrote the one telling us that wearing no-show socks / trainer socks was passé ( which has been pretty obvious for ages, I was surprised that was deemed fashion 'news') On which note though OP, how about trying them with a nice pair of socks? 😜
