Any lipstick makes me look like a clown. I am 50 with fair skin.

Any recommendations ?

lip gloss

Likewise it's so annoying. I tried red once and people laughed at me in the street.
I can only wear pink or neutral and that's it. Lip gloss looks lovely but then the wind blows and my hair sticks to my lip gloss.

Try generation g from glossier or Bisou balm from violettefr

both are a satiny matte balm that leaves a sheer tint
look online

Pale pink lip liner applied slight over the lip line (check out Lisa Eldridge video) and then a shimmery pinky gloss or glossy lipstick. Steer clear of dark lip colours. Learn how to line your lips and apply gloss or paler shade on the inside of bottom lip.

I'd recommend Wonderskin lip masks. I have several and I love them.
The two neutral shades I have are Whimsical which is pinky nude and Charming which is slightly more coral/ pinky nude.
You paint them on to your lips, wait 60seconds, wipe off and your lips look infinitely better and the effect lasts for hours. You can then use a gloss/ balm/lipstick but know that when that wears off you still have a natural colour to your lips.

I have thin lips and fair skin. I would absolutely love to rock a red lip but I just can’t pull it off. I stick to a more natural colour, my absolute favourite brand which does not dry out my 50 year old lips is Chantecaille. I can’t get on with lip liner. Chantecaille is expensive but it is wonderful and lasts a long time. I have one in tea rose and a new one - Lip sheer in Monarch which is dreamy. Go to space nk or similar and try it, wear it for a few hours and see what you think.

The tint from benefit!

Me too. Wearing lipstick just makes me look like I'm in drag. It's because I have fair, very low contrast colouring apparently (according to DD who went to art school and knows about these things).

The best I've found are the Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint balms. But they're expensive and don't last long [sighs]

As I’ve gotten older I can’t stand lip, glosses, the stickiness and shininess. As PP said lip tints are good. I don’t mind a sheer lipstick with a bit of shine but they usually have to be reapplied quite frequently. @chinesestirfry im sure yiu didn’t look a clown with bright colours but you just have to find the right tone for your skin and then I feel you need to have the rest of your face made up to ‘absorb’ the colour as it were and make the whole look work. I bought a Korean lip tint which was great my lips but better sort of look. Fenty beauty also has great colours and textures.
