Can you wash converse?

I've got some white converse lo-tops that are getting a little bit grubby (to put it mildly ) and I'd love to clean them. Does anyone know if you can just chuck them in the washing machine? If so, what temp and do I add washing powder??

TIA!

I do. They have gone slightly pinkish though !

I'd do a 40 wash with a biological powder.

Mine have been through several times and come out fine.

i wash mine in the machine on a cool wash...it might fade them a bit, esp if they are bright coloured ones

if it's the white "rim"; just clean with a babywipe or soemthing slightly stronger - they come up lovely.

I put mine through the wash, they came up great but the glue around the sole seems to gave seeped out.

Has anybody elses got denim dye on them, I wore mine last year in the lashing down rain with jeans, they now have a lovely blue tinge (even after washing). Any tips?

Thanks everyone - think I'll give it a go on a low setting and see how they fare. They can't look much worse than they do now!!
