The long sleeve is super cute and sophisticated IMO. But I have some redheaded friends who always colour block and it's super fab. Red hair with the blue dress could be really interesting and beautiful x

Perhaps a Hobbs Carly dress.
These come in loads of colours and patterns, so one is bound to suit your colouring.

I love the shape of the long sleeve one but black makes me look as though I'm suffering from consumption (in another century!)

This nearly works thank you but it's a gathered neck and I'd prefer straight. I also should have said that florals feel a bit wedding-like to me

There are these which are square neck and not black but for some reason neither looks quite right. Or maybe I've just looked at too many!

I love the colour but the swag (sorry, I'm sure it's not called that) across the neck and material.make it feel a bit formal / wedding like.
Each time I reply I realise I'm more picky than I thought! I'd like something I can wear in different contexts - special enough for a big family lunch but also relaxed enough to wear on holiday - or maybe even to work in warm weather.

I googled 'fit and flare' dress and the Hobbs Chatsworth dress came up, elegant green square neck ( I'm not obsessed with Hobbs honestly!)
But there's also others from many companies that look suitable if you Google fit and flare.

Actually, having said that, the Hobbs Maura dress is advertised as work wear rather than occasion wear which could be more suitable.
