Heat protection before highlighting hair

I’m due to have my hair highlighted tomorrow. I’ve washed my hair and needed to use heat protection spray before drying it. Is that ok?

I still use heat protection before colouring but tend to avoid oils and the likes of colour wow dream coat which are supposed to last 3 washes
