Hello,

DD is currently about a size 18. She has a medical condition, please don't body shame.

She needs new school school shirts, I'm struggling and wondering if anyone can help.

They must be 100% cotton, they must be short sleeve, they must have a collar for a tie, they must look like a school shirt.

It's the combination of plus sized and 100% cotton I'm struggling to find. Can anyone help?

thanks xx

There’s this from

Community Clothing

Possibly more expensive than you would prefer, but meets the brief and will be excellent quality.

I’m surprised the women’s sections of M& S have nothing?

KatyS36 · 25/05/2025 09:41

Wow, thank you! A tonne more expensive than I'd like to pay, but we are approaching needs must!

Cheaper suggestions welcome too!

Thanks

Uniqlo has this, if she’d prefer cropped. Only XXL available in white, which I think is an 18?

Surely Next would have something? (I don’t know their stock but others will.)

I know it's long sleeve but for the price might be worth seeing if can be shortened? https://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.1229808005.html
H&m are usually good for 100÷ cotton at reasonable prices so might be worth keeping an eye on.

KatyS36 · 25/05/2025 10:01

Thanks both.

Uniqlo looks promising, but maybe a bit too short to tuck in.

Like the H&M shirt, only available in large though and have no idea what sort of size that might be, any thoughts? (my recollection H&M sizing highly variable).

Getting sleeves shortened is an option too, that had passed me by.

Have a look at workwear designed for restaurant staff
https://apexworkwear.co.uk/products/hamilton-classic-oxford-shirt?_pos=20&_fid=a8cf99261&_ss=c
Would this work for example.

Genius! This would work. It's more fitter than dd would like, but I'm hoping if I size up (and there is scope to do this) it will be a more relaxed fit.

You might find other options if you search more but that was the first pure cotton one I could find.

@KatyS36

Would mens sizing work better?

15½ neck size = 40in chest

like these

eta; sorry, just noticed only 60% cotton (40% polyester)

Edited

Men's shirts won't work. If a man's shirt fits across the chest it will taper and narrow at bum.

Aixellency · 25/05/2025 11:39

Yup. It’s so annoying - there are any number of men’s things I covet, but inevitably they just don’t accommodate hips, at all.

OatFlatWhiteForMe · 25/05/2025 11:48

Uniqlo do a 100% cotton white short sleeve blouse up to XXL. Worth trying in store.

John Lewis ANYDAY range do 100% cotton blouses too.

fatgirlswims · 25/05/2025 15:23

How about those plus fit school shirts from Asda? Go up to age 18 although oos at the moment. £3.5 each it’s with a punt?

EDITED TO ADD: Sorr the are not cotton

Any luck @KatyS36?

KatyS36 · 27/05/2025 17:38

Some! I'm currently recieving parcels from JL, Uniqlo and the work wear company.

Now need DD to try them on.

Super appreciate everyone's help xx
