Has anyone any experience with hiring designer dresses?

Looking at Selfridges - they have the £350 dress I want for £50.

Do you get to try them on for size etc? Or is that the risk you take?

I'd hope so.
I did this once when pregnant, so I'd advise you check carefully what your pick up time and return times are. It was shorter than I expected.

I dont mean the traditional shops where you can hire ballgowns - I mean online companies like Hurr etc - so everything comes by post and returned by post.

Surely that's in the FAQs or Ts and Cs?

My friend hired a dress for an event where she wanted something a bit special which was to be delivered the day before. On the day it was due to be delivered they emailed to say there was a problem and they could not provide the dress leaving her stuck with no dress and little time to come up with an alternative. They refunded her but she was still disappointed to not have the wow dress for the event.
