My cuticles look awful! How can I stop myself picking them?

Ok, I admit, I pick my cuticles all the time.
I try to be good, I trim them, wear hand cream but the minute there’s a slight ridge I start picking until they bleed.
At the moment I’ve got two that are infected.
Any advice? I can’t use cuticle oil as it’s gets on anything I touch!
Thanks all x

I use wound healing gel on mine, I keep it near my bed. I also keep hand cream everywhere: in a car, in a bag, in the kitchen and try to use it as much as possible. I do it less when my hands are nice and soft, and when they are done (which doesn’t happen often 🥲)

I think you’re right, I’m less likely to pick if my hands are soft. I think wound healing gel might be the way forward to heal them, I’d never thought of that. Thanks for that!

Are there any triggers that cause you to pick? I do it when I'm stressed/anxious/nervous. It's easier when my hands & cuticles are dry too.

I make sure I use plenty of hand cream & I have a fidget toy (a Tangle, available on Amazon) which helps redirect the energy I'd use to pick.

I also find going for regular manicures helps as I don't want to ruin my nice looking hands!

Do you use Flash cleaning products?
