Conch piercing

So after the daith piercing mistake and subsequent rook piercing instead, I decided to have a midlife crisis and get one more - A conch!

I love it! Have read mixed reports about healing so fingers crossed I’ll be lucky and it won’t cause too much bother 🤞😁

It is very pretty - I know people are wary of headphones and iPods . I don;t wear those but I do wear paper masks and I'd worry about pulling the back when I rip my mask off.

I am looking for a new piercing - I have a lobe and a daith in one which feels quite naked to my other ear with two lobe , a tragus and a forward helix.

<Goes off to look at rook piercings.....>

Fwiw I switched to over-ear headphones when I had the daith done, as I definitely couldn't do earbuds while it was healing. I'm pretty sure I could wear them now wrt the daith but I'm not about to try while I'm healing the conch. I'll try them again once it's healed. But I have really good over ears now so it's not an issue to stick to them 😁and you can always go bone conduction if you want workout headphones.

Can someone talk to me about the pain of these when having them done?! I’d love to but piercing pain worries me which is insane considering I have a sleeve tattoo, my entire stomach tattoed alongside a load of other smaller ones!

I’ve had ten different ear piercings and the conch was definitely the most painful for me, would say it was a 8/10, but over very quickly.

Looks fab OP. I'm planning on getting more piercings. Got forward helix done in both ears, which have healed perfectly. Had helix done twice now , but just dosent work for me god knows why! I defo think the piercer makes a difference! My last one said he had OCD, which worked out great because he had to have things spot on.

StarlightLady · 23/05/2025 07:54

OP and others who posted pics, l think they’re lovely.

interestingly, l was told by a piercer that it’s more painful to have anything on the left side done as it’s nearer the heart. Absolutely no idea if that is true though.

I’d love to have a conch or a daith but my ears seem to have a weird amount of greasy buildup sorry tmi. I have to actively wipe my ear bowl and all the curves and corners with an ear bud daily. And wash thoroughly with cleaner everytime I wash my hair which is every second day.

How do others manage?

aa a result I only have several lobe and one upper helix

Looks great! I used to have one and found it healed really quickly, with a flat back. But then my ears stick out further than I'd like which might have helped 😂

thefullbullpen · 23/05/2025 09:14

Looks fab! I am also going through a mid life piercing crisis! Only came on to add, if you notice any redness or swelling and you aren't already cleaning with saline, I've found Neilmed piercing aftercare spray really helps 👍

My conch healed perfectly well in a short space of time and gave me no bothers!!! My anti tragus however is going to be the death of me. Love it OP

I had 2 anti tragas in the same ear, done at the same time. One would not heal, and after 2 months of pain with it I gave up and let it heal.
Remaining one healed fine and has never given me any problems.

Floofboopsnootandbork · 23/05/2025 10:31

i have a conch piercing! Healing was absolutely fine, but I had always planned to change to a hoop which really irritated it even after fully healed by years 👎🏻 still love it though! You’ve reminded me I need to buy new jewellery for it as mine as gone dull now.

RareNewt · 23/05/2025 12:40

My conch is my favourite piercing

RareNewt · 14/07/2025 06:53

I love my conch, I bought a travel pillow for sleeping, the hole in the pillow helped so much, mine took around 9 months to heal fully but the full healing process was fine. I made sure I cleaned it on the night and didn't touch it.

I didn't find it painful at all, even the healing process wasn't bad, im looking at getting my flat done and im more scared about the pain for the flat tbh

Thank you!

Probably will keep a stud but may change it for white gold or silver rather than the titanium. I think titanium always looks a bit dull

If you're looking for new titanium jewellery that doesn't have the dull or dark look, check out crystal heaven london, theirs have a bright silver finish

FeelingALittleWoozyHere · 18/02/2026 13:45

Got mine done a few weeks ago along with forward helix and 3rd lobe. All healing well. Zero care other than a rinse in the shower and drying with cool setting on hairdryer
Found the forward helix absolutely AWFUL. Conch wasn't too bad in comparison

I love my conch piercing, it did take longer to heal than all my others though.
I struggle with sleep so I think that was a big factor, I would end up lying on it and it didn’t help! If you can stay sleeping in the other side for a few weeks that would be beneficial!

I got a donut pillow and that helps massively for sleeping!
