Summer clothes when it's not really very warm

I am trying to sort out this summer wardrobe business. I have no clothes that I can wear at the moment. That is because my clothes are size 12 and I am currently a 14. I am working on this but realistically I need clothes that fit me NOW.
Current wardrobe consists of
One pair black linen trousers
One black linen sun dress
Some manky tshirts
A nice green cardigan
Two slightly too tight Boden dresses
And, er, that's it.
I ordered a dress from Uttam this morning (thanks Aitch!)
So what do I need to get me through the summer and cope with this kind of coldish but not too ? Have smallish budget and need to do mail order.
I don't have any jeans that fit me at the moment and don't really want any either. Am hourglass shape and have thick ankles so don't like crops.
Where can I go to shop online and what do I need?
Or should I just forget the whole thing and hide in the back of the wardrobe with my outgrown size 12s until September?

I wear linen trousers or jeans in this sort of weather, usually with vest ,t shirt otr tunic top and little cardigan.
Today for example is a little chilly here when sun goes in,but still ok ifyswim, and I am wearing
Principles wide leg creamy beige slubby linen trousers
top shop white vest
White Stuff bluey/grey tie linen cardigan
Marks blue/grey/silver long necklace
Gold Ballet pumps from Primark!
I would use your linen trousers as a base, perhaps get another cheapy pair(New Look do some slouchy ones for £16)in a different colour, also some t shirts/vests from Tesco etc to go under your cardigan.
Perhaps buy a cropped type cardigan that would go over your dresses and thus hide any bulges, ifyswim?
Hope that helps!

OK - am considering this
and these

and some plain white tshirts.

What else do I need? I don't DO summer, I am fighting the urge to get my black opaque tights out of the drawer and pretend it's still winter.

My Summer clothes for when it's not very warm are..ta-da..my winter clothes

I was just getting summery vibes about clothes the other day and was about to unveil my white wobbly bits to the world. Well sod that it's freezing again.

oh rosa get something with a bit of colour in it

RosaLuxembourg · 20/05/2008 21:20

I'm not very good at colour, Capp. I have red hair which rules out pink and red. I look ill in yellow. So that leaves green and blue. And black. I like black. You know where you are with black.
But if you insist - how about this

If you have red hair then you would probably look good in some lovely autumny colours (browns, rusts, golds, olives etc) all of which I can't wear, as I have very cool colouring.

SoMuchToBits · 20/05/2008 21:24

And I would say linen trousers, t shirt or vest top, with cardigan (which you can remove if gets warm).

ooh that is colourful even for me

green is nice

get green stuff

emerald green I love that

SilentTerror · 20/05/2008 22:09

Rosa I like that cardigan from Kew,but I agree green would be good if you could get green?

RosaLuxembourg · 20/05/2008 22:14

Silentterror - the green seems to be sold out in all the stuff I like!
I love both your colour suggestions though, I have bought this today which is a step in the right direction!

Rosa ,that is a great dress from Uttam.
Another colour I do alot of is teal. That goes well with black, brown, white, anything really.
Fat Face and White Stuff are favourites of mine this season.I like some of Boden,Kew and Great Plains too.

rosa if you look ill in yellow then i bet you would be nice in dark pink and maybe purple. do try.
