Hair won’t take dye properly anymore

I had my little one 3 years ago in my late 30’s, I’m now 41. I don’t think it’s the menopause yet. I’ve dyed/highlighted my hair for years no problem in fact hairdressers loved my hair because of how easy colour took but since having my little one I once had a head of highlights and my hair just turned to straw, so bad I couldn’t get a brush through it. So I had a load of hair cut off and the highlights have now gone but now it just goes patchy with an all over colour and I end up having to go back to the salon a week later for them to redo it but it’s still patchy. I’ve tried different salons for different brands of dye they are all the same. I’d love to have my highlights back but im scared that it will be straw again. I’m too I can’t face going grey yet. Any tips on getting my hair back to a good condition with colour in

My GHD’s gave up the ghost and I haven’t replaced them yet so my hair isn’t heat damaged.

Redken products are amazing.

I used to work in a Redken salon and sold loads. Sounds like you need moisture? Is there any breakage now? Porous hair doesn't always hold colour.

How much grey do you have?
