Foolproof fake tan for fairly pale skin?

Can anyone recommend the best brand and /or any application tips? Complete novice here when it comes to fake tan so something easy. Daily tanners though don’t seem dark enough so prefer an actual fake tan. Thanks :)

The best one I've found is the Green People self tan. It's a bit more expensive than some of the ones in boots but it doesn't go streaky, and has less harsh chemicals in. Self Tan Lotion | Natural & Organic Tanning Lotion | Green People UK.
Exfoliate before you apply it. For the face I mix their tanning drops in with my moisturiser.

Use coco and eve and a body brush honestly best I have used I’m pretty pale, but using the brush is good for not getting streaks and it’s not super orange. I use medium and leave on about 3 hours.

I use gradual tan on my light skin. It means you can build it up little by little rather than being full on tan immediately.

I am very pale and the best for me is The Gradual by Tan Luxe. It's a bit ££ for me so I sometimes settle on Palmers or Garnier gradual tans which are good, but they're not a patch on Tan Luxe

laurashley4you · 18/05/2025 22:16

@Summerbeani agree tan luxe the gradual is incredible but incredibly expensive. However I do think after using a few others it’s worth the price.

I am not super pale though I have a bit of an olive undertone so I do eventually go brown in the sun.

The st tropz gradual one is good but does smell….isle of paradise have a really good range as well with some light/medium options. @MarshaMarshaMarsha

Coco & Eve Facial Mist is foolproof for pale faces. You literally shake it, spray 3-5 times and it’s done. I was so happy when I found it. Looks really natural too. I’ve found it cheapest on Amazon.

CraftyNavySeal · 18/05/2025 22:23

St Moriz or Bondi Sands mousse in light/medium.

I find it easier than gradual tan because you can see where you have put it and its one and done.

Longhotsummers · 18/05/2025 22:23

I’m very pale but the San Tropez watermelon gradual tan is brilliant and so natural. Use a mit to apply it though.

Snippit · 18/05/2025 22:27

I’ve used Dove summer revived for many years now, I’ve never been streaky. My daughter is pale with blonde hair, I was a Brunette, going grey with blonde highlights and not pale like my daughter. We both use medium to dark, it’s a gradual tanner. I do like the light to medium for my face though. I’ve also got some tan luxe face drops, I mix mine with my moisturiser, lovely natural colour.

OneFineDay13 · 18/05/2025 22:40

Dove moisturiser one

thenightsky · 18/05/2025 22:43

I've just bought a St Tropez on Boots £10 Tuesday after the bondi sands mousse exploded up my bathroom walls when I shook it up last week.

Screamingabdabz · 18/05/2025 23:36

I’m very white and Bondi Sands is great. It gives a nice natural even looking tan. Everyone recommends Dove but that looked terrible on me - streaky and orange.

MarshaMarshaMarsha · 19/05/2025 06:37

Thanks all. I think I’d prefer a single application one rather than gradual but sounds like they might be the best choice.

Try Sol skin OP.
I’m very pale and rubbish at fake tan but this is a game changer !! It goes on so lovely and there’s no streaky-ness - honestly it’s one of the best things I ever bought !

spanieleyes · 19/05/2025 06:58

I think a lot depends on how you apply it. I use the L’Oréal gradual one with a very good tanning mitten and it’s flawless and cheap!

Apksbdv · 19/05/2025 07:06

Use a tan mitt, don’t apply straight after shaving and I don’t really do my knees as it always sticks there looks awful or I only apply once and don’t go over it.
i prefer the gradual tan ones to be honest

parrotonmyshoulder · 19/05/2025 07:21

I’ve never got on with fake tans that develop but have used ‘This Stuff Works’ leg make up for the last two summers and love it. Doesn’t streak, gentle light glow on my milk bottle legs.
