i cant see how a flipflop is going to do the same thing tbh... it doesnt hold your foot securely at all, therefore you will be using different muscles and adopting a different stance. no?

whinegums · 20/05/2008 09:06

I loved my MBTs - til I wore them out! Most comfortable shoes ever, and could really tell the difference with my thighs and bum. I had back problems after an accident, and I swear the MBTs have permanently helped with my posture - I used to wear my other shoes down unevenly, but not now.

I'm buying another pair as soon as I've had my baby - combined with pram pushing, I'm sure they're going to sort my fat ass out again!!!

They are not the prettiest, but look fine with trousers. Love them!

Wolfgirl · 20/05/2008 09:14

I wonder if the FitFlops sole are angled to support the arch of the foot.... maybe thats it.

I only like the greeny ones at the mo... at a push

Would much appreciate some sparkly beads on them, Mmmmmm.....

Fit flops are really comfy but do not offer the benefits of MBTs.They are however due to launch some sparkly ones in June

MBT are expensive and ugly although they have added to the range quite a lot recently.

I have the sandals & they are great for my dodgy sacro iliac joints and improve general posture and muscle tone too.

Fit flops would not give you the same benefit imo

Wolfgirl · 20/05/2008 15:19

update: John Lewis only hold a very limited stock, but will pop up and see what they look like anyway.

will give the FitFlops a miss

Just get measured at JL then go online and order direct from MBT....

Wolfgirl · 20/05/2008 15:32

yes, thats what Id like to do, but seems they have not only limited stock in styles, but also in sizes. However, if do find a style I like in my size, then yes I will order on-line.

mbt do a Mary jane style which is lesser in the fugly stakes than some of their styles. Tbh the black sport trainers look the least objectionable under jeans.

meimango · 20/05/2008 17:55

i bought some grey trainer mbts several years ago - blardy wonderful things - but especially fugly in grey!

last lot i bought were black and are much less offensive

mind you, i stopped wearing mbts for a period of three months when doing some intensive training and my back went right out - i don't know whether it was the stoopidly rigorous regime i was on, or having to lose the shoes - probably both.

i'm back in them again, they're such a pleasure to move in - ooh and at first it makes travelling on the tube/bus a virtual surf... enjoy

NappiesGalore · 20/05/2008 19:08

oh now i quite like the gold ones!

NappiesGalore · 20/05/2008 19:10

(have been wearing mine all day inc at the gym)

hermykne · 20/05/2008 19:15

for the summer try fit flops instead

buy the mbts in the autumn

Wolfgirl · 20/05/2008 21:17

...so tell me nappiesgalore! do you have purple rinse?

Wolfgirl · 20/05/2008 21:20

OK, another update. tried the black sandals on at JL this evening. Im normally a UK size 8 - maybe 9 if they are narrow.

I tried the MBT size 7 and they pretty much fitted, just need a half size bigger.

Man alive, they feel weird to walk in. Please someone tell me you get used it! I really like some of the styles... shame JL didnt have my size to try them on.

NappiesGalore · 20/05/2008 21:46

oh yes, my hair is purple. i am an old age punk - bring it on!

arf

(mine are the white trainers as aforementioned. but those GOLD ones (have to say Gaaaaald in bianca from eastenders voice) are not as appaling as i find most things glittery. consistency is not my middle name.)

Piffle · 20/05/2008 22:49

yes wolfgirl there is a rhythm to it and it comes quickly.
sizing is odd indeed

OneLieIn · 20/05/2008 22:56

Right - tomorrow I will dust off my MBTs and use them again. You ladies have inspired me.
