I haven't shopped on Shein before and I'm wondering if I should buy these dresses and the quality expected?

I must have terrible luck because both times I have ordered from Shein, the quality has been horrendous. Luckily I live somewhere with a huge used goods warehouse where the public can shop so I donated it. The quality of clothes from the supermarkets in the UK is far superior and I often shop at them when I am back in the UK.

I just can't bring myself to pay high street prices too often on my income as a retired singleton!

Another huge issue - people want a constant churn of new stuff. Who needs to be shopping "often"? When you buy your cheap disposable items from sites like Temu and Shein, they are too poor quality to hold any value in the second hand market and go straight in the bin. Hugely wasteful.

When I mean often, I bought jeans from M&S two years ago and bought a new pair this year. None in between! Jeans are what I mainly wear. I also bought another pair of M&S jeans last week from Vinted for £3.50. That's my wardrobe refresh this summer plus 3 dresses from Vinted! No more commenting from me. I hope the OP finds some nice dresses.

I would be absolutely mortified to admit to being so judgemental.

Oh yes!

@Barrenfieldoffucks

The T shirt I bought from Next was faded within two washes. In comparison, my Shein work dresses have been worn and washed almost weekly for a couple of years and look no different.

The quality of these sorts of dresses isn’t great and in warm weather they made me very hot and sticky

TheWisePlumDuck · 27/05/2025 19:29

Those who shriek in horror at the ethics and so on can continue to buy elsewhere.

I shriek on horror more at the lead poisoning and toxic dyes usually considered unfit for human use.

But knock yourselves out.

It's Sheit.

Not if you buy with care. I have a very nice white top which is lovely, from Shien.

RightOnTheEdge · 29/05/2025 23:30

I've never bought any dresses from Shein but I bought a few tshirts from Vinted last week that are from Shein and they are lovely and soft. My daughter even commented about how soft and nice they feel when she hugged me.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 30/05/2025 16:38

I'm just jealous you have a daughter who hugs you...mine shrinks away from me like I'm infectious 😂

No no no. Unethical and plastic clothes.
