Tretinoin & Cicaplast

Am trying tretinoin again (Dermatica) after failing to use it consistently a few years ago. It's a mix for what I think is mild rosacea, plus fine lines and pigmentation.

Its only been 4 days and I'm already dry all over the face, so I've bought some La Roche Posay Cicaplast after seeing it recommended here before but I'm not sure how best to use it....

Someone suggested it's a deep moisturiser for twice a week and to use as a thick mask overnight, someone else said to use it daily.

I now have a REALLY important F2F job interview in a week and I'd like to avoid looking like a crusty mess with dry skin flaking off my face onto my frock 😂

Any advice? Or other suggestions?

When you say it's been 4 days, have you used the tret every night for the last 4 nights? Ideally when starting off you should use twice a week and then build up very gradually. If you find it's drying or your skin is purging you can 'sandwich' so apply moisturiser/serum first, let that sink in and then apply the tret and then if you want you can apply moisturiser afterwards as well. Even then I understand some people just can't tolerate tret at all unfortunately.

Ah yes, nightly - Dermatica didn't suggest any different....but I'll be a bit less regular with it for a few weeks I think, thank you!

Should I be leaving any particular time between applying moisturer and tret / the other way around at all?

You might not need to layer with moisturiser/serum, if you only use it twice a week. Maybe wait until your skin has recovered (so just use plenty of moisturiser for the next week or so) and then try it again. It's all trial & error unfortunately because each of us might react differently but tret is powerful stuff and needs to be used with caution!

Good luck with the interview!

Thank you @LifeInAHamsterWheel for being knowledgeable, I really appreciate it! Prep starts in earnest tomorrow for the i/v...

I use cicaplast every night as my night moisturiser most of the year. I put it on after my Dermatica tret.
