Skechers sandals or Birkenstocks?

I have a holiday coming up that will involve a lot of walking. I need good arch support and a
wide fit. Should I go with Skechers sandals or Birkenstocks?

Birkenstocks always give me blisters on the soles of my feet. So bloody uncomfortable no matter which style

That’s good to know. I’ve had people rave about Birkenstocks and how comfy they are but was never too sure.

They're really comfortable for those whose foot shape works, particularly regarding the arch. It's not about breaking them in, it's about your foot shape. For a walking holiday I could wear the soft foot bed style very happily. The hard bed style would make the skin on my feet develop rough patches as they're a bit like walking on very supportive ground barefoot.

Try Ecco walking sandals.

If I was doing a lot of walking, even city waking, I'd get shoes designed especially for the job. Good supportive trainers (my go-to are Brookes) or walking trainers - I like the enclosed styles from Keen.

I have wide feet. Also size 9! Keen and Brookes are good for wide feet. New Balance are also quite wide, and also do several styles in a wide fit, but get a sports/walking style, not a fashion style.
