Anyone else consciously cover up in the sun?

If so, what do you wear? I really want to limit sun damage. Anyone else?

Factor 50 whenever it's light. If the sun's out, UV is out.

ViciousCurrentBun · 10/05/2025 20:17

Clinique moisturiser has factor 50, every day.

I wear a hat often, from baseball caps to large straw hats.

I also wear sunglasses a lot, I find bright sun less irritating I hate that sort of low level little bit of sun haze, hurts my eyes. I even wear them in winter.

dudsville · 10/05/2025 20:21

Sun hat, large sunglasses and spf, my legs are always covered, so it's usually my feet and arms that are really exposed.

PunxsutawneyPhilsShadow · 10/05/2025 20:27

I do - I'm quick to use sunscreen (and to re-apply it), I've got a couple of different hats and make sure I have one with me, and I cover up with light shirts etc.

PunxsutawneyPhilsShadow · 10/05/2025 20:27

Oh, and sunglasses too.

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 10/05/2025 20:32

I got some uv clothing from mountain warehouse.

Have lupus so have to be careful in the sun but lupus recommended products were ridiculously expensive.

I hug the shade as much as I can. Factor 50. I use a summery umbrella as a parasol as well. And I have some thin 3/4 sleeve blouses.

Gnomegarden32 · 10/05/2025 20:44

I've started wearing a linen scarf and/or shirt and long linen trousers just because it's easier than applying sunscreen all over. And sunglasses and a hat of course. Although I recently found out that thin white clothing doesn't protect your skin so I'm going to start applying more spf again. Always wear spf 50 on the face, neck and chest of course.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 10/05/2025 21:16

Thanks! I use SPF 50 but the Mountain Warehouse clothing sounds good. Might check that out.

Tilley hat, long sleeves or SPF50, long trousers. Densely woven fabric will give more protection than lightly woven fabric, or a tight knit if you prefer stretchy fabrics.

I have varifocals with Transitions lenses so I don't have to worry about damage to my eyes. When I swim, I have a fully body Stingray outfit which protects against the sun and jellyfish. I usually try and stay in the shade.

I use P20 sunscreen everywhere before I get dressed.

I tend to wear linen or linen mix trousers and a long sleaved blouse / shirt.

I can and have burned through clothing before now so I need the sun screen as well as clothing.

I have a large selection of scarves / wraps and have one with me at all times to cover anything more exposed.

Oh and a hat.
