Cocktail wear in 2025 London

Help please!

I've been invited to a cocktail event in central London, it's part of a craft/art event organised by a luxury group foundation, and some of the patrons will be there too.

I have no idea what to wear.

If anyone’s been to something like this before or has ideas, I’d really appreciate some guidance.
Thank you!

So I went to a sponsored arts event last night but corporate sponsored (basically a work thing). I wore flowy trousers and a smarter top (all black) plus a bit of chunky jewellery. Flat shoes. In terms of effort I was average. Some people had full on evening dresses, some had work clothes on. Lots of jumpsuits. My friend was in a lovely farm rixo dress which was a bit more statement-y than your typical office outfit but not much. Another lady I met was in a very striking midi skirt and heels and very plain top and blazer.

i actually asked our events team what people wore and they said amped up work wear was typical and I’d say that was true. I could wear my outfit separately to the office, it was the styling that made it that bit more formal iyswim.

People underdress in London. Quite a lot! Especially if it’s arty or media. Smart jeans wouldn’t be out of place if dressed up well. I’d be thinking elegantly cool rather than anything else. Agree that a jumpsuit is a good choice. Interesting trousers and a smart top?

Workwear is always fine. Londoners don’t get the chance to go home to change between work and evening event so will glam up a work outfit instead. You couldn’t go wrong with a black dress/ black trousers and a white jacket with statement accessories; that’s the definition of cocktail dress tbh.

Definitely no ball gowns or black tie unless this is a massive drip feed and it’s at Buckingham Palace or it’s the Met Gala.

Any of the jumpsuits Next have online would work.

I personally wouldn't wear jeans to a cocktail / luxury event OP but that's just me!

have a look on lipsy. A smart jumpsuit will be lovely if it's more you're thing.
