Missoma, Monica Vinader etc. Are they good value?

They keep spinning round on my Insta feed and they do have some nice things but they feel quite pricey for gold plate. Are they a decent quality or will they tarnish very quickly? Thanks

I didn't have missoma earrings long enough to see if they tarnished... The stones fell out and so I sent them back. Same happened with the 2nd pair.
To be fair, the customer service was good when organising the returns, but I wouldn't buy again. Shame, as I always see items I would love.

Depends what you get. Silver should last and you can polish it. God vermeil is a thinner plating than gold-plated, so you can polish it but eventually the gold rubs off. Avoid wearing perfume/moisturiser as that will make it wear out quicker. I’ve had a gold vermeil necklace from Daisy London that I love for about £100 and I’ve worn it maybe 5 days a week for 5 years. The catch has just broken, and the back of the necklace where it sits against my skin has tarnished. I do often wear perfume and not patient enough to let it dry fully before putting the necklace on!

Monica Vinader stuff is great, and if the gold plate is rubbed off they replace the item for up to 5 years. With the new item the guarantee starts again so very reassuring. I have had this happen to a ring from them and it’s been replaced with no quibble at all.

I think gold vermeil is quite a lot thicker than gold plate, not thinner.
I’ve got plenty of gold vermeil jewellery as I prefer gold to silver but can’t afford solid gold! It lasts really well - I’ve found the bracelets sometimes get less gold looking and more silvery with time, as they are more subject to wear than necklaces or earrings. But they don’t ever tarnish - they just get a bit lighter and more silvery which, tbh, I quite like as some gold vermeil is a bit too bright yellowy for my taste (I actually find Monica vinader a bit bright, but I’ve got a couple of bits anyway as I like the design).

I have some silver earrings from MV but not impressed with the quality.

Have MV rings, don’t wear every day but don’t ever remove for washing hands, laundry, crockery, gardening etc when I do. Have lasted v well, love them!
