High/low dressing- what are your ‘high’ item and what are your ‘low’ items?

My ‘high’ items seem to be accessories more often than not and my ‘low low’ items seem to be things I have picked up in charity shops.

Not sure what you mean?

1988abc · 02/05/2025 08:20

Do you mean in price?
High would be my handbags, low by many people's standards but fairly expensive
Low ...
Probably my underwear! I have never been a matchy match investment peice woman in that respect just bog standard sparks.

Yes as in label/price
For example a Balenciaga bag and Primark dress and shoes.

My ‘high’ items are accessories as per a PP, bags, shoes and also belts which I’ve discovered in the last year or so. Doesn’t matter where the dress is from, but I put a decent belt on and the whole look is elevated!

BlueEyedBogWitch · 02/05/2025 08:24

High-Low dressing is putting outfits together that consist of a high end or designer item and something from the high street.

So you’d have a pair of Armani trousers with a Primark T-shirt.

I saw Meghan describe it on her silly show when I binged it

TeaAndCakeMakeThingsBetter · 02/05/2025 08:26

Low items are things like primark vests which I wear all the time but no one sees (but are actually surprisingly good quality anyway!). Also I’d probably go lower end for anything that’s more trend driven and unlikely to last more than a season or two

Britpopbaby · 02/05/2025 08:26

It will also be relative to your budget too in many ways. My See by Chloe bags will be consider mid range or whatever but to me they are high end.

To me, my high end are coats - Hobbs and Reiss. My cheaper items are probably everything else.

evilharpy · 02/05/2025 08:56

My high end tends to be higher end of high street, not designer. I have a few mulberry bags but stick mainly to the likes of All Saints, Reiss, Whistles etc. Bags and shoes are always decent quality and I never ever buy anything in fake leather. Jeans are usually supermarket because Sainsburys and Tesco jeans are brilliant but I also pick up a few basics like t shirts, long sleeved tops and underwear in supermarkets.

LouisaMayAlcott · 02/05/2025 13:29

My high end are my handbags although usually I’m walking around using a Uniqlo bag but I do have designer ones in the wardrobe. I also spend more on coats because I’m wearing them for 9 months of the year and they’re hiding my actual clothes. My actual clothes are Uniqlo flannel trousers and tee shirts, often from Primark! All fur coat and no knickers that’s me 😂

I've got all kinds of designer bags and the See by Chloe ones are the ones I get the most compliments on!

I love a bit of high-low dressing. I'm in the US and can frequently be found doing some kind of Old Navy dress and Chanel bag combo. My absolute favourite pair of going out shoes are from Target!
