Products to keep hair tidy all day

I have VERY fine hair, which I usually wear up. I work a professional job where appearance is important, but as part of my job I am in and out of the car, outside in the elements etc.

I often find that by lunchtime my hair is a mess - it's so fine that it just escapes my hairstyle and sticks up all over the place.

I generally use hairspray, but I don't like the way it goes 'crispy' and it doesn't hold for more than a few hours.

Any recommendation for good (preferably not too expensive) products to keep it under control please?

Mousse is the only thing that even begins to keep my fine, thinking hair still.

Fine hair here too.
They are not cheap but Michael Van Clarke products are excellent.

You could dry it using strong hold mousse before you hairspray the bejaysus out of it?
Do you have to wear your hair up? Could you use heat protecting product, straighten it and put only the front up?

FWIW I work in a very formal environment too, I have long, oily hair which I wash every day. While it is still wet I make it into a low ponytail and roll all of it then hold it with a subtle comb clasp.

Colourwow transform cream. Never had anything fix my frizz instantly (and on dry hair) so effectively

Little bit of hair oil or a neat French plait works for me!

Thanks - do you put the mousse on wet har or dry? I don't wash my har every day. And doesn't it go crunchy?

Thanks - I'll have a look at that brand.

I can't leave it down without spending significant time with the airwrap in the morning or it hangs lifelessly. I don't have enough hair to on wear some of it u unfortunately .

There is no way it would stay in a French plait, even if I had enough of it to not look like a rat's tail! But I'll look into hair oil.
