Anyone got both a septum piercing and a corporate job?

I really want to get a septum ring, but I'm a bit nervous. I have multiple ear piercings already and that's a nonevent, and I also have colleagues with nostril rings or studs, including some Indian colleagues for whom it's cultural, but a septum feels like a step further? I work in media/tech, so it's pretty chill.

I haven't got any nose piercings but your post has made me remember a very young colleague asking me - then her young line manager - if I thought a nose piercing (nostril) would stalk her career. This was early 90s in a fairly conservative work environment. I said it might upset some of the oldies, but I thought she could carry it off. Within 2 or 3 years nostril piercings were much more fashionable and hardly noteworthy at all.

OP you sound like you are in a work environment where it would be completely cool. Go for it 😀

Thank you! I think it probably would be fine, I'm just irrationally nervous about it. It's a pretty easy piercing to hide if you have to, even. And I have no senior leadership ambitions - I'm a high-paid technical individual contributor who likes it that way. I already dress smarter than a lot of people I work with just because I like it that way and I kinda like the idea of upping it a notch but with my bejewelled ears and nose.

My DD2 has a septum piercing in a workplace where it cannot be visible.
She has septum rings that look solid but are actually half rings so can be flipped up inside at work so they can't be seen... ask your piercer :)

I've got my septum done, I've got a small hoop that sits pretty close to my nose and it's barely noticeable

Thank you @Sonolanona and @ThisTooShallPassApparently ! I have bought a plain fake ring and I think I'm going to try out wearing it to the office a few times and see the response I get. If it's all cool, I can go ahead with the piercing (I really really want to). I know I can get a horseshoe barbell and flip it up inside my nose during the healing process, but I much prefer the look of a ring so I would ideally like to be able to wear at least a plain ring at work.

The executive in my area has a tragus piercing, which isn't facial but is at least a tiny bit spicy, so here's hoping it's as chill as I think 🙂
