WTF! AI hairstyle trailing horror show! Is it just me?

I downloaded FaceTune after seeing reels on insta etc showing different hairstyles brilliantly and seamlessly superimposed on the same face/head. I just tried it, using a clear headshot with my hair off my face and it was utterly useless. Am I missing something?

It was clearly only wanting to add to hair to the area that already showed hair, which given I’d scraped it back off my face was very little. I then noticed an option to draw the area you wanted the edit to apply to so I drew out a rough shoulder length bob shape and promptly got a Grayson Perry wig plonked on my head in monotone Bette Lynch blonde. WTF?! The ads suggested you could trial any number of hairstyles.

I’m fancying a restyle tomorrow and I wanted to de-risk it. AI is so powerful, surely it can’t be this shit and I must be being an idiot. Can anyone help? Has anyone had success with this feature?

Thanks @JaneJeffer. I really feel I must have missed something and it is better than I think. I clicked a Try New Looks option thinking that might take me somewhere and it immediately applied a filter that made me look 20 years younger but still like me, - only tweaked to be much hotter than I ever was so it’s clearly very good at that. However I don’t want that, not unless it can do it to my actual face.
