What do you think of this dress?

Have just bought this dress (though not petite) and I really liked it on in the shop but now I'm not so sure.

I have a football presentation thing with dp at end of the month. 1st team are going very smart (dp), youth team are not. So I need something quite fancy but nothing too over the top.

Will buy a shrug type thing (don't like my arms!) and some killer heels, nice little bag and jewellery.

But I'm not sure about the dress. I normally dress in quite sort of slutty sexy clothes when I go out. Obviously don't want to be too slutty for this but still want to be a bit sexy and I'm not sure if this dress is although it does show a little bit of cleavage

Obviously the shoes and accessories will help but will it be enough. And is it a bit of an old or boring dress, albeit very pretty?

I'm full of self doubt now. This football do is a big deal for various reasons, I really need to look good. Should I take this back and just get myself a classic little black dress?!

I can understand how you feel about looking too 'grown up'. I'd be the same in this, it is absolutely gorgeous though, I'm sure you will look fab in it. You must have liked it though or you wouldn't have bought it. You need to show us a pic of you in it to properly decide.

Hassled · 17/05/2008 22:28

I love it. I wouldn't immediately describe it as sexy but if you dress it up with heels, jewellery etc. it might end up with the right effect. It's a really nice, unusual dress.

OracleInaCoracle · 17/05/2008 22:28

no, dont take it back. i LOVE it!

brimfull · 17/05/2008 22:29

I'd have to reserve judgment as things look so different on the puter.

Tbh I think it looks a bit like a nightie.

It's the white see through bit I'm not keen on.

Quadrophenia · 17/05/2008 22:31

its lovely but don't overdress it as there is already alot going on, I actually think it would look nicer with ballet pumps or peep toe shoes

Gobbledigook · 17/05/2008 22:34

It's quite a nice dress but it's very fussy and I think to have a killer look it's need to be fairly simple with good accessories.

Plus, the fact that you are even doubting it means you are not going to be looking in the mirror and think 'hell, yeah!'. If you want to feel amazing on the night you need to love what you buy.

Pisha · 17/05/2008 22:46

Theres no white see through bit, the bit under the bust is a kind of duck egg blue if thats what you mean ggirl?

Difference of opinion then overall!

I had my friend with me in the shop who thought it looked lovely and I did and do like it but I'm not sure if its right.

I think you might be right gobbledigook that if I don't love it thgen I won't be feeling amazing.

But I do like it and I've not seen anything else I like. I'm so bloody fussy and indecisive!

Will try and get dp to take a couple pics of me in it tomorrow and post them to see what you think although obviously I don't have any of the accessories yet. I do need heels with it to make my legs look better and it slims me down!

I heart that dress but couldn't find my size ...

flubdub · 18/05/2008 20:00

I think its beautiful and you MUST keep it, but dont think Id describe it as sexy.

nobodysfool · 18/05/2008 20:08

These fools are all wrong. It looks terrible and i'm sure you could find something much better.......tell you what, send it to me, i'm such a nice person i will take it off your hands!

jafina · 18/05/2008 20:09

I think its lovely and much more interesting than a lbd. Wear it!

windygalestoday · 18/05/2008 20:12

no i think its fine i think with the right shoes and ccesories youll look fb ...is your hair long?

peacelily · 18/05/2008 20:13

TB totally honest I'm not into it, but not really into Monsoon in general I find their clothes, dare I say it, a bit mumsy.

It sounds like a really big night and I think you should feel fabulous, not just as if you're making do.

I'm v v fussy and indecisive too, oftne leave the Trafford Centre/Manc City Centre after 3 hours of shopping with nothing or something I'm not totally into so can empathise with your predicament!

pootleflump · 18/05/2008 20:15

If I'd just looked at your link I'd have said I don't like it, but I've looked at it in Monsoon and it is FAB in RL, keep it.

foxinsocks · 18/05/2008 20:27

it does look a bit like a nightie, but probably because of the material (it's that silky/satin stuff)

I think you need to post a pic with it on because I think it's probably figure dependent

(also, I tend to agree with GDG - you need to be looking in the mirror going 'fark me I'm gorgeous!')

I also think if your friend saw you in it and she's an honest clothes opinion friend, then you should trust her view!
