Need advice on hair products please or possibly a new style

I'm 50 with quite long hair ,
I've never managed to find products that make it look it's best
When i comb it with a wide tooth comb it goes in to a ball of frizz,
If I use a leave in conditioner,it goes hard
If I use an oil smoothing product it goes limp and greasy .
So it's constantly tied up in a knot on top of my head .
Today it's took me an hour to to get the matting out of it ,yet again I've lost handfuls of hair .
If you have nice hair please tell me what you use
I have the hairdresser tomorrow and I'm thinking maybe it's time to chop it to a bob .
Any thoughts greatly appreciated

Is your hair wavy or curly? Fine or thick? Your hair probably needs protein or moisture but hard to tell which. Bob will be easier to manage probably.

I think it has a bit of a curl to it
Because it goes frizzy when I comb it

It may be similar to mine - I use the Aussie Moist shampoo and conditioner, I comb it as rarely as possible and only when wet to get any knots out. I often have it in a bun but that’s because I don’t like it on my face, if I let it down, it looks wavy and quite nice.

Try the Garnier food range especially the banana shampoo, conditioner and hair mask

I've I used the conditioner before,just never the whole set

I'm not going with a bob ,I think I will hate it down round my face in the hot weather.
Will persevere with conditioners
