Is Botox the best thing for around the eyes?

I have (what I feel is) a lot of lines around my eyes, but only when I smile. I’ve attached a pic of my eye when my face is still, and another from when I’m smiling. Has anyone had any treatments for this sort of thing, and would Botox be best do you think? Thanks for any and all help. I’m 30 and I never thought I’d be interested in this sort of thing but after seeing a recent picture of me and my friends I feel like I look 10 years older than them!

Sorry but I think you look fine and lovely as you are. I don't see any obvious lines apart from smile lines. Botox will ruin it, make your face look emotionless when you smile, and frozen/expressionless. I know of someone that got it around their eyes and hated it. She had a funny lump form at the top of her cheek when she smiled.
We are all ageing, it's part of life, embrace it! I think it's such a shame people turn to surgery, I know of an 18 year old that has had botox.

I had Botox under my eyes. It worked okay for me. Didn't make them completely disappear though and sadly didn't last that long

Alkaline182 · 26/04/2025 17:24

Thanks for your reply- I think it’s just something I’ve zoned in on, on a few pictures and now keep thinking about. It’s just that I look back at pictures of me smiling only from a couple of years ago and the lines aren’t there! Think I need to remember that nobody online or on the TV is really natural anymore too.

Did you only have the lines when you smiled? When you say it didn’t last long, how long did it last?

No. Botox is not for this. Its might do something for crows feet, but not the ones underneath

Nevertrustacop · 26/04/2025 17:27

No practitioner is going to put Botox under your eye

Purplecatshopaholic · 26/04/2025 17:30

Generally Botox isn’t for this. Great for crows feet (had it, love it) but not under eyes. There’s tear trough fillers but I wouldnt have that myself, too risky. I researching polynucleotides at the moment (eg Lumi Eye), as an alternative.

Rattai · 26/04/2025 17:31

I definitely had it under my eyes.
It is called the jelly roll

Purplecatshopaholic · 26/04/2025 17:33

Yes, I have heard of it Rattai - not had it done, don’t think it’s very common. I don’t know anyone who has had it put in there myself.

MissyPants · 26/04/2025 17:33

I was referring to someone I knew who had it for crows feet btw.
You don't get it where you are pointing to tho.
And of course you didn't have the lines a few years ago, you've aged since then!
Yes not a lot of tv people are natural anymore.
You need to stop comparing yourself to others and how you looked years ago. Everyone is hell bent on surgery to get rid of lines and it's because of social media and all these silly reality shows.

Thank you, I didn’t realise it had a proper name!

I think you look lovely. You're young and fresh with great skin, no need to go down the treatments route. Put the money to some make up or something if you really feel you need enhancing!

Alkaline182 · 26/04/2025 17:39

Thanks for all your replies- after a verrrrry quick research it looks like Botox here could make the eyes look strange as the bottom eyelid can droop down. I’ll keep wearing my SPF and see if there’s something else.

Sorry but you are 30, you do not need Botox. Those are lines from smiling and perfectly natural and normal. They are not wrinkles.

Alkaline182 · 26/04/2025 18:06

Thank you all!

Be really careful with anything under your eyes, especially filler which some people recommend
