Puma speedcat trainer woes - colour transfer

I bought some gorgeous red puma speedcat trainers

After 1 or 2 wears the red bled or transferred to the white suede.

I'm sure looking back it was the flappy legs of my flares transferring the colour.
I wasn't aware that this might be an issue. I wore them on a dry day thinking I didn't need to think about a protective spray unless they might get wet.

I contacted Puma and luckily they were great and are letting me return for free and get a refund.

I really want to get the same again and want to know if I put a suede protector spray on BEFORE I wear them will this mean they don't transfer colour at all or do I need to accept it is pretty likely and choose a non suede equivalent?

If so can anyone help me find a similar RED equivalent? Want a trainer brand ideally rather than high street store brand.

If protector likely to work can anyone recommend the BEST product?

Thanks in advance.
