Nice dinner outfit - what would you wear?

We are going out for a nice dinner and bit of a celebration. I always get decision paralysis.
I usually wear jeans going out but think I want something a bit dressier but not glam!

So first question - what would you wear?

second question any suggestions for me - 5’6 size 16, awful legs and yum and need flat shoes! I’m thinking a dress?

I’m in my understated era too, preferring simple colours rather than patterns and Floral but I’m open to suggestions

Maybe go for a simple long dress with low v neck and some fabulous earrings or statement necklace, or beautiful silk scarf to match your skin tone? What’s your hair capable of? A nice elegant up do could work. Have fun!

I have several versions of the Nobody's Child Starlight dress. The trick is to keep it fairly loose around the middle - it's tempting to buy the next size down so the under-bust band fits tight, but the dress is more flattering and infinitely nicer to wear when it floats on you, rather than gripping.

I'm 5'7", size 16, meno belly. This style has never failed to attract compliments. I wear it with flat shoes or flat boots.

I like that style but the cut seems very low and I’d be concerned my bra will show all the time. The wire up the middle.

Yes, I did buy a bra with a low front! When wearing a more comfortable one (or none), I pin the neckline together a bit with a brooch.

What about a co-ord instead? Super chic and very comfortable to wear, they look great with flats too (or trainers for everyday after the meal so you can maximise their wear)

Arket do these beautiful shirt and trousers, and they usually come in a few different colours each season. I have a navy version and LOVE it!

God I hate the phrase, ‘Statement necklace’. Do real people actually use it?

Where do you like to shop @fatgirlswims ?

Edited

This is what I would do. I live in matching joggers and tops but could also wear a smarter version. I doubt the fashion will last for ever so I wouldn’t spend loads

Great thanks!

both great ideas - love the starlight dress and good tip about not too tight as usually I would go for the tighter option!

any ideas for shoes?
