Had an influx of “hey lovely can send today” “don’t you want this”? “Please look at
my other items !!!”

Does one just block!!??

I’ve also offered before and been accepted but then changed my mind and not paid - “hey lovely can you pay so I can send out today”. I get it may be a bit annoying but it’s not a formal contract to make an offer!

I had a seller reach out to me saying she was accepting offers, so I suggested an offer and she blocked me after telling me the offer was too low. The item still pops up on my suggested feed (weird) I desperately want it and to add insult to injury she has reduced it to a lot less than what my offer originally was and I can't buy it or contact her because she has blocked me - so frustrating.

Ask a friend to buy it in your behalf?
Alternatively, I'll happily do so for you, though I appreciate that you don't know me from Adam and might not want to trust a stranger.

cromwell44 · 15/04/2025 21:09

I think Vinted seems to bring out the pettiness in some buyers and sellers. I don’t pay ££s because I know it’s a bit of a risk and so what if I get messages from sellers🤷. Sometimes they chivvy mme to make a decision.

That's kind of you thank you. Xx

Tooearlytothink · 15/04/2025 21:37

I tend to look at it as they're clearly keen to sell as they need the cash and, although I find it annoying, I'm grateful I'm not in that position where I feel that desperate to get someone to buy. It may not always be the case but hard to think anyone would do it for any other reason. With that in mind I ignore the message & carry in with my day (unless it is something I really wanted in which case I go ahead and buy)

bunnybunnybunnybunny · 15/04/2025 21:43

Sometimes I ignore, sometimes I respond with a 'good to know', and sometimes I unlike the item. Once in a blue moon, if someone is selling an expensive item and they send me an offer with a £1 or £2 discount, I thank them for their generosity and decline! 😂

It's just one of those things much like sellers sending an offer on eBay

ThisZanyPinkSquid · 16/04/2025 08:40

This infuriates me!! I hate the ‘I can post today lovely’….it’s Christmas pyjamas love I’m in no rush for them 🙄

I instantly unlike the item and then if they message again block.

That's quite an over reaction!

As a seller I get an email if my item has been favourited by someone and asked to write to the and get a conversation going.

When I try to click on where they say there is no option to contact the buyer, only to follow them. Does anyone know how to contact a buyer to offer a reduction etc. please?

The buyer has changed their notifications so sellers cannot contact them to start a conversation about something they have put in their favourites, I have done this as I got fed up of the silly messages saying they were posting that day etc.

If you reduce the price, even by a small amount, the users who have favourited the item will get a notification that it has been reduced and that may lead to a sale or an offer.

superstar63 · 16/04/2025 12:17

@stopringingme Thank you for the explanation, its funny as there have been quite a few and it sounds like they have all done this then. I thought i was doing something wrong when i couldnt start the conversation etc. so thanks again.

FrenchandSaunders · 16/04/2025 12:23

Not vinted but i once sold a dress on ebay and I had a message asking if I minded CD.

I replied saying I had no idea what CD meant .... turns out its cross dressing. I couldn't give a monkeys who bought and wore the dress, but why even mention it? It's not as if they're coming over to the house for a try on.

Teen DD was offended though as it was her dress 😁

Doggymummar · 16/04/2025 12:24

I got a few messages last week asking for pictures of the item being worn as they can't tell from the pictures what it would look like. Like I am going to drop everything, put the item on and get someone to take pictures and then send them for a three quid t shirt. I replied politely to say the reason I am selling is they don't fit me, so there is no point. And they said I'll LEAVE IT THEN. Weirdos

YourWinter · 16/04/2025 12:26

Yes, I pointedly won’t buy from anyone who messages eg about posting tomorrow. Either reduce the price or butt out.

Wow. I might ask for an actual measurement or clarification of something not shown if it's important, which I know might take extra time or checking, but I can't imagine ever asking someone to put the clothes on for me!!

uncomfortablydumb60 · 16/04/2025 13:18

I’ve had one today, saying they can send a pair of trainers I only browsed yesterday. Yes I ignore

henlake7 · 16/04/2025 13:24

I don't think most messages are weird. Mainly just people mentioning price reductions or posting schedules.....normal stuff so I'm fine with it.

Although I did once check somebody's reviews and everything one was like a page and a half long with angry replies from the person. It was fascinating reading! (Yes, I still bought the item out of curiosity....and no, they didn't send it!😁).

Doggymummar · 16/04/2025 13:37

That's one of the things I prefer about eBay, if someone makes you an offer eBay are already holding the money so it is a contract. On VINTED people will wait until payday and then moan if you sold it already. It's all good fun.

nonmerci99 · 16/04/2025 13:42

dudsville · 15/04/2025 11:37

It doesn't bother me, but the most I've had is an offer of a slight reduction or the statement that they can post the item today. Tbf, I don't favorite much. Now and then I'm curious to see how an item fares, so I'll favorite it to follow it. I don't see the reason in favouriting. Make an offer, ask a question, but why favourite it?

I buy just about all my children’s clothes on Vinted, so I favourite items I like as I’m searching. Then I go back to my favourites to choose what to buy.

I also buy bundles so favouriting a seller’s items makes that easier.

Lots of sellers on vinted don't get that buyers asking for a reduction in price isn't a commitment to buy. I've sent offers and instantly been bombarded with messages telling me to pay now.

I’ve asked this just once, but it was a vintage wool coat and cost £45. The seller didn’t oblige 😂

lilacflowerpetal · 16/04/2025 13:45

I had one of these when I’d favourited an item and hadn’t realised sellers could see who had favourited an item, and found it really intrusive! I quickly changed the setting so they can’t see I’ve favourited things. I still get notifications about price reductions.

To those not sure why people favourite: I do so when I’ve seen something I like but the price is too high, or I can’t justify spending the money at that time, or as a reminder that I might want to buy an item in the future. I currently have something in my favourites that is cheaper to buy brand new on Amazon with free delivery, but delivery would take two weeks so I’d buy it on vinted if the seller reduced the price to match. Lots of people have favourited it; if it was a good price it would have sold! I don’t buy clothes though.

Vinted seems better for sellers than buyers. The large payment protection fee is a con and nothing ends up as cheap as it seems.

Ah I didn't realise that, I think maybe some buyers think the fact they've had an offer accepted means I've reserved it for them and they can pay two weeks later. My stuff is priced to sell, if you faff about offering me a quid less someone generally has already paid full price. There are a few things still hanging around where I got the price wrong, but most stuff goes the first weekend.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 16/04/2025 15:36

I favourite as a bookmark like watching on eBay

henlake7 · 16/04/2025 15:43

I often favourite things that are too expensive so I can scroll down to the similar items and see if someone's selling it cheaper!
