Festival outfit

Help, I'm taking my kids to a local music festival in a few weeks, and have absolutely no idea what to wear. I want to be comfortable for the whole day without looking like I'm trying too hard/ copying the cool teenagers. In my glory days it would have been denim shorts (with or without black tights), a band t shirt or vest top and hoody or shirt, but I feel waaay too old for that now! I love 90s sportswear, baggy jeans and own many (uncool) trainers. Help me throw an outfit together, mn!

Size? Budget? Access to exclusive paid loos, or not?

You’ll get more focused suggestions if you say which festival - but my general experience is that they’re opportunities to be completely oneself. (Weather and facilities dependent, of course.)

Rock, dance, folk, indie, electronica?!! Is it a full blown paid camping festival or local musicians having a go on a stage?

Either way, I would avoid baggy jeans, you don’t want them trailing on the floor of the portlaloos. I find dresses/skirts easier, but depends on the weather and then wellies if it’s in a field.

It's a festival. Just wear whatever you'll be comfortable in. I wear jeans and trainers, a random top and a warm jumper for later with an anorak in a bag in case of rain. Like a normal day when I'll be out and about and need to be comfortable.

There will be teenagers who treat it like a fashion parade but there's no need to emulate them.

Wear clothes according to the weather forecast

Perhaps some of us are more drawn to expressing the festive element of the word ‘festival’, @DappledThings? I’m a million years from my teens but definitely see a festival as an occasion to debut carefree new looks that are not quite the same, or not worn in quite the same ways, as my usual daywear.

(I do envy your username, btw!)
