Canvas pumps - is the only way to go converse ?

Any other alternatives considered respectable enough ? Converse just remind me of being a teenager but should I bite the bullet and if so is anywhere good to buy them from ?

MargaretMountford · 16/05/2008 10:16

there are some French ones I think called Superga - but I love Converse - a classic,in the way Levis are

MargaretMountford · 16/05/2008 10:17

SUPERGA

Enid · 16/05/2008 10:18

I like Superga (they are Italian, btw) - they are much more comfortable than Converse.

Bensimon are far too Versailles for my taste (and am having middle class crisis this morning and feel need for new more shocking look).

I like rocket dog because of the wide toe. Long narrow-shaped pumps make my feet look like canoes.

rocket dog

One year I had some lovely diesel ones too, though they only lasted a summer.

Wheelybug · 16/05/2008 10:22

Thanks all - not sure I like any of those as much as converse....

its just I wore converse when I was 14....

OK, is there anywhere to get a good deal (I know they're not expensive anyway but a bargains a bargain) on converse ?

Am just off out so will eagerly await a shopping opportunity on return.

yes they are very well-to-do french

very groovy though with dresses (i think)

Enid · 16/05/2008 10:23

too much toe cleavage here with rocket dogs

also dd1 likes them so they are out for her old mum

Anna8888 · 16/05/2008 10:24

Just off to pick up daughter and to see whether Rich Arab Bitch Fur Coat and Hermès Bag Mummy is still parading her tatoo at lunchtime

MargaretMountford · 16/05/2008 10:27

Enid · 16/05/2008 10:38

i cant bear lace ups

except my silver top shop ones obviously

wilbur · 16/05/2008 10:45

I bought some sneakers, or more plimsolls, really, last year in Brora (I think they sell them because once you've bought one of their sweaters, you have no money left for smart shoes) - they had a big range of colours and they are v comfortable. But thinner of sole than my beloved Converse.

wilbur · 16/05/2008 10:48

They are here link but they had loads more colours in the shop last summer - green, chocolate etc. Am now quite interested in the metallic pumps on the same page...

MrsMills · 16/05/2008 10:50

Both the ds's wear converse so I wear Superga, I have a few pairs now.
But the best thing is you can put them in the washing machine and they really do come out as new, not all curled up and misshapen.

MrsBadger · 16/05/2008 11:00

I wear £4 ones from Peacocks in a fetching brown and cream print, but they are ballet-style with a velcro strap

Sputnik · 16/05/2008 11:04

Ethical option

castille · 16/05/2008 11:28

My eldest wears Converse too and although I need some new canvas trainers I don't think we ought to match...

So Supergas - how do they come up? I have v narrow feet between a 38.5, what size do I need?
