Am I too old for this dress?

Honest answers please! I bought this dress in Next yesterday just because I saw it and loved it. Going on holiday to Spain soon so wss browsing for a few new bits. DD (19) was with me & said it was nice. It sits above the knee & now I’m worried I’m too old for it. Especially as it’s low at the front & back. Is it too much skin on show? I’m 52, 5’2 & size 10-12. My legs are decent, fairly slim & toned.

At £28 it wasn’t expensive but I am trying to decide whether to keep for my holiday or send back!Next summer dress

Am I too old for this dress?

You’re not too old, but it looks like a nightie. I don’t like it at all, sorry.

Saved me typing time.

bowsbunniesandbooks · 14/04/2025 13:47

No ☺️

restbite · 14/04/2025 13:48

It is the kind of thing that I wear in Cyprus, I am 55, 5ft 3 and a size 16😂

restbite · 14/04/2025 13:49

Its too bloody hot to worry about what I am wearing

Saltedcarameltiramisucheesecake · 14/04/2025 13:52

It's too nighty like for me.

LivesinLondon2000 · 14/04/2025 13:55

No you’re not too old for it at all. Depends on whether you suit that style or not - but usually if you have nice legs you will. On me, that would look awful as I need dresses that show my waist or I just look stumpy and about 5 dress sizes bigger than I actually am 😂

It looks lovely and cool for a holiday somewhere hot 😊

LuckysDadsHat · 14/04/2025 13:57

I would say you are about 18 months too old. 50.5 is the perfect age for this and you are passed that!

Note the sarcasm.

No one is too old for the dress. It is a perfect holiday dress.

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 14/04/2025 14:55

I don't love it but I do think it would be good for a beachy holiday. Don't worry- were whatever you like!

Ruthietuthie · 14/04/2025 15:15

Unlike in baby and toddler clothes, the number in the label is the size, not the age range. Hope this helps 😉
More seriously, it looks like a lovely breezy summer dress for a hot holiday. Enjoy your time away.
(If you wanted to follow the poster above's advice to treat yourself, you could look at Me and Em. But if this is mainly a day dress, for wandering down to the beach, I think it is perfect. You don't want to spend too much on something that might get suncream on it).

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/04/2025 18:46

I think it’s the colours that make it like a nightie. In place n black it would have an entirely different vibe.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/04/2025 21:04

Should say in plain black

restbite · 15/04/2025 07:06

In fact, I have this in my Favourites that is an actual nightie but I like it so much I am going to buy it for a coverup dress for over my costume on holiday when we go for lunch
