What do I need for under this dress?

I’m going to wedding next weekend and bought the dress ages ago. I tried it on again earlier with my shoes etc to make sure it’s ok and you can see the seams of my bra through the fabric. Every bra I own has a seam or embroidery that can be seen through the fabric.

I’m not buying a new bra because a I wear a JJ cup and bra shopping is an ordeal I just can’t face and a quick look on Bravissimo has 1 smooth cup bra in my size and it’s a plunge, so I’ll spend the entire day terrified of falling out it.

Started looking for a smoothing vest to wear under the dress but then saw some slips on M&S and thought that might be better? But what length? It’s a full length dress so would I need a full length slip or would a shorter one be ok. M&S do a variety of lengths but they’re shown in inches, I have no idea what that means, they don’t show the different lengths on a model and I can’t for the life of me find a tape measure.

Please help me!

Yes, a slip. Full or half, up to you.

I'm 5'2" so a half slip of 24" is knee length, 27" is midi, 30" quite long and 33" is maxi.

It’s a brilliant dress

Thanks both, will just get the longest one one then, I’m 5’8 so the 35’’ (the longest they do) on me should be ok.

It’s the most amazing dress, I can’t wait to wear it next week!

I am the same height as you and the 35” slip on me is just above the ankle -good for full length dresses. The straps adjust so that gives a tiny bit of length flexibility. Slips are sized lengthwise in inches from the waist, even when they are slips not half slips, that’s why the sizing can be confusing. A 26” slip is below the knee on me by a couple of inches. 27” slightly more midi, 35” is two or thre inches above the ankle.
