I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think? https://www.johnlewis.com/brora-merino-lambswool-fair-isle-yoke-jumper-blue-multi/p112600509?tmad=c&tmcampid=7&sshare=jlappiosY29tLmFwcGxlLlVJS2l0LmFjdGl2aXR5Lk1lc3NhZ2U= Not the season to be buying jumpers but not a bad reduction.

If you love it, get it. If you don't love it when you see it and try it on, return it.

BlossomBlossomBlossom · 09/04/2025 07:27

I think you could do a lot better. This is on sale at the moment:

I have a Brora fair isle lambswool cardigan… had many years and I love it!

UpMyself · 09/04/2025 09:15

The Brora one is much nicer than the Lafetiche one.

BlossomBlossomBlossom · 09/04/2025 09:43

With that awful bulky neck finishing, @UpMyself?

UpMyself · 09/04/2025 10:23

I don't rate Brora but I'm basing it on one jumper I had. The Lafetiche one looks nice on the model. There are probably others to consider.

Looks rather clunky and chunky around the neck. The neckband seems too substantial. It says it's blue but it looks black to me andI've never found blue-black very flattering around my face.

I don't suit that kind of round-yoked jumper, or crew necks, but if you do, and if you have the skin tone that can take darkest blue, it may be lovely on you.

I like that. Do you know how to keep an eye on Harley of Scotland's sales on this website? Doesn't seem to be very user friendly to me but that might be me doing something incorrect. Looks like this is the only jumper they have from Harley...how did you find it? TIA

UpMyself · 09/04/2025 10:56

Harley of Scotland - Home
I suspect they sell to trade only.

BlossomBlossomBlossom · 09/04/2025 11:19

How did you find it?

Not quite sure I understand the question, but I’ve been a La Fetiche customer for years and am a bit obsessed with their knitwear. I have several jumpers and a couple of tailored items. Everything is really exquisitely made, mostly in collaboration with expert craftspeople in Scotland or around the UK. (The pleating, and the lining on a kilt I have are breathtaking.) Mostly I stalk their sales.

If you go to the menu you can isolate Sales. Or Knitwear. I think …

All the prettier colours of that jumper have sold out - have a look on their instagram page to see what they’ve done in past collections. (I didn’t find them through instagram and they’re absolutely not an ‘insta brand’.) I have at least two with the checkerboard pattern.

I know Plumo usually has Harley knitwear in winter, but I think you’ve missed them for this year.

Apologies for length - but I’m always a bit sorry when people seem to be buying comparatively unsatisfactory knitwear!

Edited

which was why I asked @BlossomBlossomBlossom

UpMyself · 09/04/2025 11:22

I thought the link might be of interest to others on the thread, @Ecocool, you had obviously looked at the site . The jumpers look lovely.

Tinseltuttifruitti · 09/04/2025 12:36

I have basically that jumper in green from brora, it's nice enough but a bit thin and loosely knit. It's not an heirloom piece by any means but if the price is right for you go for it.

WhiskyandWater · 09/04/2025 15:06

I was just coming on to say I have it in green too @Tinseltuttifruitti, I wonder if you got a bad one as mine is really thick and warm and I can see it lasting many years. Or maybe I just got lucky. I got it in Brora’s sale and have only worn a handful of times as I found it overly warm for the mild weather.

Saltedcarameltiramisucheesecake · 09/04/2025 15:10

I bought one very similar last winter. Looks lovely but found it itchy and too warm.
I do better with thinner cotton jumpers that I can layer with thin cardigans.

Survivingnotthriving24 · 09/04/2025 16:00

The string of bells pattern is far too Christmassy for me, I wouldn't spend £95 on a Christmas jumper.

RandalsAunty · 09/04/2025 16:08

I tried their non-cashmere jumpers and found them very itchy. Love their cashmere tho.

SirChenjins · 09/04/2025 16:13

No idea why the ad is so big there - apologies

Djangor3725 · 09/04/2025 16:56

Bosie sell lots of fair isle designs (and stock Harley knitwear). Don't think they have anything sale on yet though https://bosie.co/collections/

I think it’s lovely. 😊

Doggymummar · 09/04/2025 19:26

I got an Eribe the other day for £5 on Whatnot, the lady did not know what she was selling. It's orange fairisle and was £225 on their website. It's beautiful

SirChenjins · 09/04/2025 19:27

£5??! What a find - I’m v jealous!

menopausalfart · 09/04/2025 23:01

@SirChenjins I have an Eribe sweater. I adore it.

Duckies · 10/04/2025 13:47

I like it, but I tend to like that traditional yoke shape with the larger shoulders.

I think if you are buying a Shetland jumper is should be a non -fashiony as possible so it lasts.
