Should I keep? Lusted after this and finally purchased it in the sale. I thought I would be able to waft around in it as part of my transitional spring wardrobe in a pair of Mary Jane’s.. !!
For context the dress is size 10.
Thank you.

Do you like it op?
I think it looks great.

CarrotParrot · 05/04/2025 17:34

It fits you nicely! It makes me think of Little House on the Prairie though.

HobnobsChoice · 05/04/2025 17:35

It's a lovely dress but dark tartan/checks always feel autumnal to me rather than spring. And ironing the ribbons flat would annoy me but I'm a slattern. Do love a check dress though

Youareonmute · 05/04/2025 17:57

Ah thanks.
I do like it or do on the model. Haven’t we all bought something thinking we will look like the model wearing it?!!

There is quite a lot of check material and I do get the little house on the prairie vibe. I am 50 but not sure this dress is for this age range- don’t mean to be being ageist, and course I believe people should what the hell they want ( referring to me re if the dress suits me) I do wear what I want, and if I keep this dress, I will wear it, but wondering if the may be an alternative dress out there. I am rambling so in short - I am not sure about the dress!

I’m sorry but I think it’s incredibly old fashioned. (But I’m totally a bodycon dress fan so my opinion probably won’t matter.)

KnittedFerret · 05/04/2025 18:00

Return it. You'll look nicer in something else.

Indicateyourintentions · 05/04/2025 18:03

I think it looks lovely on you. If it was me I’d take it up a bit so it’s not quite so long. When you are petite it’s easy for clothes to swamp somewhat. The model has lots of ankle showing

LucieChardon · 05/04/2025 18:17

I'm at the age where if I don't love it, I don't buy it.

I think the dress looks fine on you OP, but not gorgeous. The shoulders seem to stand up more on you than in the model photo?

And if you're unsure about it, then maybe you shouldn't keep it?

Rebootnecessary · 05/04/2025 18:20

I love it and think it looks really good on you.

BUT I’m also of the view that if you’re not sure then you probably won’t wear it. However much you want to wear it and love it, it just hangs in the wardrobe.

KnittedFerret · 05/04/2025 18:37

It looks OK on the model, while the other colours don't.

I don't really like the dress, it looks a bit like a Christmas nightdress and the shoulders look weird. You have a lovely figure and only look ok in the dress.

BlossomBlossomBlossom · 05/04/2025 19:00

I think it’s better on you than on the model. I liked it in red when MN was calling it the worst dress ever … It is a bit wintery but I have no doubt it will still be fashionable cone Autumn.

henlake7 · 05/04/2025 19:42

I love it. I'm over 50 and would Def wear a dress like that.....if I cut the ribbons off!

lucindalucinsa · 05/04/2025 20:09

It looks better on you OP than the model. Follow your heart and be you. I’m 65 and have completely revamped my wardrobe in the last 6 months, and my hair and make up.
We won’t be around forever so wear what you like/love.
