Which jacket and shoes would you wear with this dress?

I am thinking navy fisherman sandals but not sure about the jacket. No denim or leather, please.

I think if you have to do too much work to make an outfit right, the item isn’t right

OMG, that's what it reminds me of, something St Francis of Assisi would have worn!

It's hideous, sorry. And those waistcoat/gilet things would make it even more hideous imo. I think the only way it could possibly be wearable is with the sleeves rolled up, espadrilles and an armful of Indian-style bangles.

Lol at the replies. Thank you for all those that have given me ideas and taken the time to reply - much appreciated.

I am going to put it back on Vinted as the material is like something that might have gone up in flames in the 1970s if you stood too close to the fire. Oh well...I am useless haha.

Don’t know about that … It’s just the same as trying something on in a shop and deciding it’s not for you - that doesn’t make one useless. It’s trial and error.

And fabric is key. If it had been linen, or silk, or wool it would have been a different dress and maybe worth keeping.

And you’ve gained introductions to some brands that might suit your tastes - that’s a good thing, surely?

Yes, all true @CapaciousHag Thank you for your help and yes I have discovered a few things now so all is not lost!

I actually quite like a drab dress. I'd wear with bright platform clog sandals and a wide belt.

Fair play to you OP. st Francis is bang on. I’m laughing out loud. Maybe an acoustic guitar and a round of kumbayya.
