I’m a 46 year old, size 8/10 and six foot tall lass with a small waist and curvy hips and small boobs. A spoon body shape. Inside leg 33”.
I’ve been trying to find decent jeans for my body shape and height for ages. And I can share what has worked. Because it took a lot of effort. And if I can help someone avoid the same pain and suffering, then that makes me happy haha!
I was after something classic but also some more modern options. Mostly barrel leg jeans. Because of my height, trial and error over many decades always leads me back to some high street solid favourites, as they have more sizing options.
Levis don’t work for me. I did consider Abercrombie which I’ve heard are great these days. And Nudie Jeans I’ve had loads of success with over the years.
Sezane would be my preference. But they’re expensive. And I am not sure they’re long enough. I also love Cos and Arket and Mango. But their length always disappoints. Also their rise. I end up with the crotch right up in my… erm… crotch. And the waist ends up being too big.
Honestly, I’ve tried them all. Me & Em. Mint Velvet. H&M. Banana Republic. Gap. I’ve tried them all.
There’s also the issue of material. Too often, jeans have a mixed content. Too much Lyocell or stretch and the knees go baggy. So ideally, I’m after full on cotton. Although that comes with its challenges, too!
So where have I had success?
Next, M&S, and Massimo Dutti!!
Next do these Barrel Leg Jeans in various colours. I’ve found they all vary in length and size. I ordered 10XL in the dark blue (good fit and full length on me), mid blue 10L with a slight crop (perfect, I kept!), and the black in 10L is way too big so I’ve sized down. Awaiting an 8L replacement to try…
M&S has some good options. I love these Stovepipe jeans in medium indigo. Beautiful fit in 10L. Feel super French chic. Will wear with ballet flats and blazers. And in a classic colour that never tires. I also really loved their Wide Leg Jeans via Autograph. Got them in the dark indigo in 10L and they are perfect. Really lovely fit and hang beautifully.
Finally, some Massimo Dutti straight leg jeans in a nice medium blue. Link here. I got a size 10. And they’re lovely.
