Any ideas/links for smart casual wear for mid 50s 'inverted triangle' shape woman please? 12-14 on top, 10-12 on the bottom. Reasonably toned, bust size 38b in part due to broad back. Need to wear a belt as waist not much bigger than hips. Slightly flabby menopausal middle. Slim legs. Occasionally wear padded underwear to give shape under a jacket or skirt. Sadly no bum at all. 5'2"
I think wrap tops or twist front tops flatter my shape.
I don't much like 'fussy' clothes or much in the way of pattern ( a bit is fine)

It's a very awkward shape to fit and flatter I find. My usual style is very casual but I need to spruce up a bit to feel confident in a new role. Can any one help? Thanks in advance!

In summer I wear a linen blazer (ancient Jaeger) over a silk, linen or cotton top with cotton or linen trousers - no jeans.
In winter I wear cord or velvet trousers with a cashmere jumper and a gilet.
I find having everything in the same colour works well and does not make me look too "dumpy". Varying the textures also helps and adds interest, although why I should be interesting anyone other myself is a complete mystery!

Thank you @Jane958
I just looked at linen jackets and I fear they will all hang wrong.
Doesn't help when even M&S advertise them like this!

In my previous City profession and more recently in a wholly different area - I’m far more likely to notice and form an opinion on another woman’s style than on her figure. But figures seem to predominate on S&B. I wonder if it wouldn’t be a better idea to focus on finding clothes you love, that meet the requirements for contemporary work wear, rather than concentrating on perceived bodily flaws - which are only perceived by you?

is a good place for a well-informed work wardrobe. There are pieces that would fit you straight out of the shop; others that might need some alteration; some that would be impossible. But you would look modern and in control.
