What do you think of this as a weekly beauty routine?

In the early 16th century i was a young, slim, glamorous, career woman with very few stretchy clothes. I am now a plump 47 year old stay at home mum to two disabled kids.

I am starting wegovy this week and have just been through all my clothes and had a sort out. I now want a weekly beauty routine and have come up with the following.
Please can i have your opinions on this.

Monday - gloves on and full body scrub then body cream, paint toenails and hand nails
Tuesday - top lip, underarms and anything else sprouting on the upper body
Wednesday - Thighs and muff with a philips lady shave
Thursday - Shave lower legs
Friday - Floss teeth

Every day shower with bar soap (all over including face), wash and leave in conditioner on hair, occasional cut and colour (my hair is normal and long and really easy to wash and go) brush teeth and spf face cream.
evening cleanse tone and moisturise and i always use foot cream and lip balm before bed.

every day put on eyebrow pencil, mascara, lip and cheek tint

I would have done much more than this back in the day but reading through this seams like a mountain to climb to do regularly instead of sporadically. I've been buried under stress, nappies and paperwork for years. If you are a carer you will know what i mean, you loose yourself. Thank you

Hey op. Once you get on top of your body hair, it'll be so quick that you'll be able to everything in one session.

16th Century ??

I believe she was making a joke about her age. It is the sort of thing I would do too. I was once young.........

Lentilweaver · 28/03/2025 14:04

Gosh I don't do most of this. And I am not a carer and have plenty of time.
Poor DH.

You should be flossing daily.

mynameiscalypso · 28/03/2025 14:07

I floss my teeth daily rather than weekly.

Namechangermagic · 28/03/2025 14:16

Are you washing your face with bar soap? The beautician in me is 😱
In jest I know lots of people use this or shower gel please don’t be berate me

Namechangermagic · 28/03/2025 14:17

Oh and add a daily spf

Lentilweaver · 28/03/2025 14:18

Honestly, all that sounds fine and even a bit excessive.

ellyoctober · 28/03/2025 14:21

Let the muff run free.

Ineffable23 · 28/03/2025 14:21

For me, Mondays would be a way bigger job than everything else? But e.g. even if I don't shave my legs for months it doesn't take me more than about 3-4 minutes whereas painting my nails is super time consuming.

i would but i just don't like it. Even if i was a wizened old lady i think i would still prefer it trimmed. Just feels more comfortable.

yes, i love it and i like a routine that harks back to the 90's. I get dirtier than most if i have been at the yard waffting a gentle cleaners and posh shower gel wont get horse poo out of your hair and face. I have normal skin so i am not high maintenance in any way.

i know what you mean but i think that is a bit harsh on the gums, i think the jury is actually a bit out on daily flossing. I have really good teeth so i must be doing something right.

In my opinion, and that’s all it is, why is it broken down so much?

Sunday night shower- hair wash, shave legs and underarms, shave muff and nip hairs, get out and moisturise. Takes me 15 minutes and then 3 to moisturise.

Monday- paint nails.

To be honest I even paint my nails on the Sunday after the full shower.

I think breaking it down too much will make it too long winded and hard work.

lack of guaranteed uninterupted time and lack of knowing what will happen that day so unpredictability and not knowing when i am going to be too shot to pieces. If i get it into smaller chunks then i have more chance of doing it consistently.

Op if you're really active (sounds like you are), gel nails may be better option as they're less likely to chip

BeretRaspberry · 28/03/2025 22:22

I only do my toenails once every 3 weeks or so as they seem to survive anything so you may get away with doing that less. I also get waxed so only have that once every few weeks…I also have an epilator to keep on top of it in between. Could you stretch to one of those and maybe do a bit at a time (10 mins each night or so) then you won’t need to do them for ages. Your routine is good though if you prefer shaving.

I also floss daily but use the harp things - I know they’re not great environmentally but I don’t have the dexterity to use floss.

Ineffable23 · 29/03/2025 06:30

Yes, on the nails front, I'm only moderately active (cycle places, getting the bike in and out of the shed, go swimming etc) and my nails get ruined within 2-3 days of painting at best (on my fingers, toes can last fine).

TwinklyRoseTurtle · 29/03/2025 06:33

I found it all much more manageable to do a ‘everything shower’ every Saturday morning- hair wash and mask, shave, exfoliate, facial, moisturise more excessively and then do my nails and eyebrows it’s just a once a week thing, takes 2 hours and I look forward too it. Obviously I shower everyday and mouthcare- you need to floss daily.

Middlechild3 · 29/03/2025 07:03

Sounds good but I'd try to floss everyday

ZippyOliveEagle · 05/04/2025 11:42

I floss everyday after brushing.
I always do a big shower and clean every Sunday night. Then shower during the week just to clean. Skin care I do every few nights with eye patches and moisture.
Shaving for me is as and when I can be bothered. Legs and thighs every few days. Because I hate hairy legs but the other parts are as and when I feel like it.
