DS is soon to be 16, is autistic and hopefully off to sixth form college in September. We're in the North West. He needs new clothes and trainers but has absolutely no preference about these (I have asked and asked), other than he wants to blend in with the other kids and they need to be comfortable (not big on jeans, shirts etc). He's worried about having the wrong things and being laughed at. Currently wears plain joggers or dark coloured combats, tshirts from Next, soft hoodies (one Nike, 2 Under Armour). Please help us Mumsnet I'm clueless and don't want him to look like his mum has dressed him. I can't get him to chose things, he finds it too stressful. Help!

My nephews and their friends (14-17 north west) seem to have a preference for all things montriex and on cloud trainers at the moment. They also have a fair bit of Nike.

DS is 16. Loads of Nike, next joggers and combats (thanks to their longer leg lengths), hoodies are from Zara, All Saints and Represent. Trainers are Nike Air Force, Pandas and some hideous Yeezy things.

This. I live in the NW and 90% of teenage boys seem to wear Montriex and Nike 95 (known locally as 110's) or On Cloud trainers.

It is very dependent on area and crowd. Nike is probably very safe.

Footwear my ds like Nike 95s and TNs. He also has a pair of Adidas spezials that he would wear with jeans.

T-shirts he likes the Nike Miler, these seem to be very popular. He also wears Fred Perry polo shirts.

He wears Nike tech fleece jogger but mostly because he's tall and nothing else fits him properly! He'll wear dark blue jeans when he needs to be a bit smarter.
Sometimes he will wear shorts, joggers cargo shorts or Nike athletic style ones.
He recently got a Napapijri hoodie he seems to be living in atm.

He does also like some more niche brands amongst his peer group, mostly to do with following football team e.g. Lyle & Scott, Marshall Artist, CP Company, Sergio Tacchini.

What you really need to find out is if it's the sportswear/tracksuit crew or jeans, t-shirt and hoodie crew, he wants to follow.

Not going to venture my advice ( though what you have listed sounds fine to me🤷🏻‍♀️) but wanted to wish you both well for the journey!

Thanks everyone this is really helpful! Glad to hear Nike is still OK and useful to have some other things to look at. Thanks Calliope, that's very lovely!
