Good Morning Mumsnetters,
I wonder if anyone saw Alex Jones' outfit on The One Show last night (Weds 26/03). Am wondering where she might have sourced that gorgeous white blouse and wide legs jeans...
Any ideas anyone??
TIA. x

God, she looks unconvincing in all that. Strange choice.

EcruCardigan · 27/03/2025 17:29

CT is OK. The quality is decent. It appeals to an older demographic than AJ, but that demographic probably watches the One Show.

I don't fit into either of them.

If you do a screenshot of the clothes, that might help.

2gorgeousboys · 27/03/2025 17:32

She shares a lot of her outfits on Instagram so may be worth having a look on there.

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 27/03/2025 19:55

Bit less expensive… https://www.johnlewis.com/mint-velvet-short-puff-sleeve-shirt-ivory/p113324980

@hailsugar I've done a screenshot for you of Alex Jones...... I'm awake and it only took a minute or two.

Alex Jones' outfit....

It’s the Rick Rack blouse from Sezane. Unfortunately no longer available but you could set up an alert on eBay/vinted

hailsugar · 28/03/2025 08:35

thanks so much!! that is the one...thank you for your help. x

Horrendous. No way would she be seen dead in clothes for the over 60s if she wasn't getting paid to do so!

EcruCardigan · 28/03/2025 09:22

@Chuchoter , their clothes are fine, and can be worn by anyone they fit. Alex Jones is probably a bit younger than people who probably buy the clothes, and has a different lifestyle.

On my 60th birthday, will the clothes I wear become unsuitable?

She is 48. A very attractive 48, but does 12 years really make that much difference in what you wear?

Only if you are stuck in ageist thinking. It’s as toxic as racism but mainly used against women so it doesn’t matter/ is invisible and women attack each other with weaponised ageism.

Gunnersforthecup · 28/03/2025 11:19

I'm writing as someone about to turn 61 😊. I'm still approximately as interested in fashion now as I was 10 years ago.

Newmeagain · 28/03/2025 11:20

Yes, this reallly upsets me. Ageism is everywhere and particularly used as a weapon against women.

sunshinechaser · 28/03/2025 12:45

Oh I have this blouse and love it but it’s years old from Sezane so unfortunately old stock. It’s called ‘chemise waves’ if you want to keep an eye on Vinted etc.

Hear, hear.

I have a dress from Cotton Traders. Bought it in my 40s. It's a nice dress. I obviously didn't realise that it was only suitable for the over 60s.

I'm also turning 61 and am as interested in fashion as i always was, probably even a bit more now as I have more time and money to shop now the kids have gone.
AJ is one of the best dressed women on TV along with Rita Chakrabarti.
But i am not a fan of Cotton Traders nor J Crew and put them in the same group as White Stuff, Fat Face and Seasalt. None of these shops have ever appealed to me, not even 30 years ago.

Gunnersforthecup · 28/03/2025 15:26

The only person I remember seeing wear J Crew was a junior doctor aged about 30 (male). I don’t wear any of those brands, but I don’t think they all cover the same demographic.

Tamrastarr · 28/03/2025 15:52

I love Alex Jones and I think she always looks beautiful!

Not ageism from me - just recognition of how she normally dresses, and that there's no way on earth she'd be dressed like that if she wasn't being paid for it.

On that basis, it seems that there would be lots of equally attractive people who might have made a more convincing model.

Mosaic123 · 28/03/2025 20:14

Some of cotton traders stuff is good.. They also do most of their trousers in 3 leg lengths.

I wish more brands did that.

EcruCardigan · 28/03/2025 20:42

I'd say the same, but I have clothes from them (one item from each, I think). On the rare occasions I've gone in the shops I've been pleasantly surprised. The quality is fine and not everything looks obviously [brand name].

I also like the younger demographic shops, but I feel ancient when I'm in the shops. I often wear children's clothes, and as with WS/SS/FF/CT, I pick things because it will do the job. I wouldn't buy something I didn't like.

If I went to my local high street to get something like a plain t-shirt, I'd probably try SS first.
