Any thoughts on this dress. Is it too casual for a wedding? I love it and it’s a nice fit but also would appreciate any suggestions of how to add sleeves? Tried a sheer top underneath and it looks just ok.

No picture?

Laundereddelrey · 26/03/2025 17:22

Is it the emperors new dress, I wouldn’t. 🤣🤣

I think it’s a bit casual, sorry

Laundereddelrey · 26/03/2025 17:30

Irish weddings are usually very dressed up and formal, if your really dressed it up it might work but summer weddings are usually full on summer dresses.

doitwithlove · 26/03/2025 17:38

Nah, that resembles work wear to me

SunshineAndFizz · 26/03/2025 17:47

Agree too much like work wear.

And trying to add sleeves would look odd (appreciate not everyone likes showing their arms but if so this dress is not for you).

gingercat02 · 26/03/2025 17:52

You would have to go heels, big hat and lots of jewellery to bling it up enough for an Irish wedding we like to go all out

CookingFatCat · 26/03/2025 17:58

I like it, heels, dramatic hat, you’d need a jacket though as you know, it’s Ireland …. In May.

Regretsmorethanafew · 26/03/2025 18:01

Looks like a picnic blanket. Sorry.

peachgreen · 26/03/2025 18:03

Too casual, sorry OP.

Sleepington · 26/03/2025 18:04

I think it is lovely. I’ve been to a few weddings in Ireland and this is absolutely fine.

I wouldn’t add sleeves.

Wear with green shoes.

hopeishere · 26/03/2025 18:04

It’s lovely but as people said it will be cold in Ireland. And wedding are generally very dressy.

Moveoverdarlin · 26/03/2025 18:05

Every Irish wedding I’ve been to they are done up to the absolute nines.

SoftPillow · 26/03/2025 18:08

The shape is good, the pattern not so much. Irish weddings that I’ve been to have been smarter and also cold, so I’d want to have layers.

Pennyswimsplash · 26/03/2025 18:10

how Lovely an Irish wedding they are usually full of style and a fantastic celebration with so much fun to be had. I’d look for an alternative dress/outfit.

deeahgwitch · 26/03/2025 18:25

I live in Ireland.
The weather in May could be blazing hot - over 20 degrees and / or it could be lashing rain and cool.
The dress is fine for an Irish wedding just bling it with high shoes, glamorous bag, hat or fascinator.
I wouldn’t put something underneath it. It would look odd.

CarpetKnees · 26/03/2025 18:32

I'm intrigued.

I can't see the picture posted at 17.28 - it is blurred out and says "sensitive content".

Is it THAT shocking ? Hmm

Joolsin · 26/03/2025 18:56

I also think the dress is nice and appropriate for an Irish wedding. I like someone's suggestion of green accessories. You might need a jacket. May temperatures here could range from 8° with pelting rain to early-mid 20s and glorious, impossible to forecast!

mathanxiety · 26/03/2025 18:58

That's not something I'd wear to a wedding in Ireland.
It looks like a school uniform plaid.

Fortunypleatsingreen · 26/03/2025 19:00

Hi op; I really like the dress but would say the plaid print is a bit day wear and work wear, especially if it’s a hot May Day! You never know in May though whether it’s going to be a heat wave or a downpour!

The shape is really lovely though and would work well in a different fabric. 🌷

KnickerlessParsons · 26/03/2025 19:05

Is it a churc wedding? It it is, you should wear sleeves.

Not true for church in Ireland. I've been to countless weddings here and nobody covers their shoulders. My own wedding dress was strapless 😆 You'd need a cover up for the cold though.
OP it's a lovely dress but the pattern is too like workwear.

ClippyMuldoon · 26/03/2025 20:31

I am Irish and would definitely wear that. Heels and a snazzy bag, a hat if you want, it's lovely. And bonus points for not being floral 😀

You will want a jacket of some sort though, I nearly froze last May in a country church.

AtrociousCircumstance · 26/03/2025 20:35

I like it!

Amused that the image was blurred with ‘sensitive content’ on for me - I wondered how extreme the dress was going to be 😆
