Do lightweight summer traditional style jeans exist?

Every year on a very hot summer’s day when I am sweltering in my year round jeans I say this, ‘I must look out for a pair of lightweight traditional style jeans’. Do they exist? I like jeans cos when I am looking after the grandkids there are pockets front and back to pop in a hankie, keys, change etc. Can anyone advise from previous year’s shopping as I know it’s early yet to be looking but I want to be organised this summer. Thanks in advanced.

These may not be your style but M&S have these lightweight linen blend jeans for warmer weather

wearing cropped jeans also makes a difference in keeping you cool.

Thank you so much for your reply. They do look very nice and are worth looking at but the linen mix may require ironing which I just don’t do anymore. I think i want more straight than wide leg for everyday wear. I should add that I am very slim so I can’t wear skinny jeans. Popped into Whistles yesterday and they said I need a chambray material which they will be getting in soon.

I've got a pair from Bon Marche which look just like normal straight leg jeans but are thin and cool. Don't need ironing either.

I have a couple of pairs from M&S bought very recently, so still around in the shops. Have a look in person so you can feel for the weight and stretch ones.

What about chinos? Similar styles to jeans, pockets etc. but lighter weight cotton.

Thanks. Was that recently? Are Bon Marche still trading? Think that kind of under the radar shop like Cotton Traders too may come up trumps.

Thanks. Will try and get to an M & S store, trouble is I hardly go shopping anymore. Just got out of the habit during COVID and found when shops re-opened I just wasn’t bothered. Think I need to go and have a look though. I do find the range of clothes and sizes in shops these days are very much reduced by stores to save on floor space and cos of online shopping,

I have had various styles of M and S chinos and they don't really need ironing. I wash, shake out creases and hang them to dry! I am averse to ironing and have never had a problem with them.

I have some from crew clothing from a couple of years ago. Very light material and very cool but they still look like jeans.

Do you have a budget? If pockets are important I'd avoid M&S who tend to treat women to barely functional micro pockets. I'd recommend these by Rohan which look traditional but are pretty thin and lightweight, and have deep pockets:

I got them last year in store, and that one is still open. They're online as well. I get plain t shirts and cotton blouses there too, reasonably good quality.

Just had a look on website, they are called Sara straight jeans, go from size 8 in 4 lengths and several colours. Little bit of stretch for comfort, sizing is true, £20.

@Advocodo

ibe had some good things from M&S recently but not by relying on seeing what they happen to have in store.

their click and collect service in store is really brilliant. Look on line for anything that might be interesting, order it on a credit card to be delivered to the store you visit.

they well things for a week but then don’t sometimes arrive until later in the day so I have them delivered the day before I plan to visit the store.

Try in everything , and return anything you don’t want to their usual tils, for refund in plenty of time before the credit card bill needs to be settled.

and have a look round the store of course too but you can make you they have the things you want.

Good luck.
