What shoes would go with this outfit!?

Hi all, I'm wearing this two piece tomorrow for a day/night of drinks with friends but can't figure out what shoes to wear! I have loads of heels that would go great but the day will involve a fair bit of walking so I'm trying to steer clear of heels. Any ideas please?

I don't think it's an outfit that will go with many non- heels, sorry. Maybe some flat delicate sandals? Not really the weather yet though! Are you taking anything jacket wise for warmth?

Personally, I'd keep the 2 piece for when it gets warmer, and wear the top with jeans, some pretty ballerina style shoes and a blazer/ jacket

I think it would look a bit odd with non heels.

frillygillymilly · 21/03/2025 07:25

maybe ballet flats but you would have to then style it Prada style eg an oversized knit & casual hair.

MayaPinion · 21/03/2025 07:28

I’d get a chunky white trainer, OP. Or a pair of Nike Pros.

SkalengeckOrSiegbarste · 21/03/2025 07:28

Could you do wedges, easier to walk on than a heel, but still a bit dressy.

SoScarletItWas · 21/03/2025 07:29

I agree that only heels will ‘go’ in the strictest sense of the word as it’s a very delicate and dressy outfit.

So you would have to go to the other extreme to make it look deliberate - heavy boots, jacket in the same colour as the boots to tie it together. Or chunky white trainers and a big pale jumper.

Pointed flats in white or silver, like these.

Heels only I’m afraid.

This is what I see young women wearing on Saturday nights out where I am.

Teenagers & students wear dresses & trainers, only some pull it off but i've never seen this style dress used...

TheFairSheep · 21/03/2025 09:03

Thanks all, I could do ballet flats or wedges. I do have chunky white trainers and have been considering it but it feels so wrong!

It feels wrong ‘cos it is! I’d rethink the dress/two piece if I was doing all that walking. The pointed flats idea from @Fagli is better, but I had some similar and they tore my heels to shreds, so give them a good try if you do explore this idea and take plasters.

Ferro · 21/03/2025 09:11

If you have the figure for that dress, nobody is going to be looking at your shoes.

MayaPinion · 21/03/2025 10:34

Nah, trainers make it look edgy and cool. I think ballet flats when paired with dresses just make people look flat footed. Wedges scream ‘COMPROMISE’, and heels look dated, especially with a ‘sexy’ dress.

frillygillymilly · 21/03/2025 11:27

But that outfit isn't edgy or cool...
