Help with facial asymmetry! Botox? Fillers? Anything?

Name changed for this as the selfie is obviously outing!

I’ve noticed one side of my face is droopy, particularly my cheek area and eye. I’ve had Botox to try and lift brow area but it hasn’t really helped. No idea where to go next as it’s really bothering me now! I’m 32. Just had eyebrows microbladed which is why they’re so red but hopefully the photo shows what I mean. I know faces are never 100% symmetrical so that isn’t my aim, but my cheek seems so puffy and the cheekbone isn’t as prominent as the other side of my face. Or is it just my droopy eye making it look like it’s the cheek that’s the issue? 🤣 I don’t really wear makeup, but if there’s any contouring tricks that would help then I’m open to learning!

Honestly? Your face is lovely. Lovely eyebrows and eyes.

Barleypilaf · 19/03/2025 15:04

Eh? You have gorgeous big wide-open eyes, high cheekbones and look lovely.

Flomnle · 19/03/2025 15:08

I was going to say the same I just see a lovely fresh looking face with really nice eyes?

lefloose · 19/03/2025 15:09

Honestly I wouldn’t have noticed any asymmetry if you hadn’t said anything. You look lovely, high cheekbones and a gorgeous face.

wizzywig · 19/03/2025 15:09

A face isn't supposed to be symmetrical

AnAquiredTaste · 19/03/2025 15:11

has it always been like this or is it a medical problem?

Rattai · 19/03/2025 15:11

My face is similar to yours in that one cheek sticks out more than the other.
I honestly think we notice this because we look in mirrors etc and examined parts of OT face separately in ac way that other people would not. They look at our entire face.
Every time i have pointed it out to people they genuinely have not noticed before.
You look lovely by the way

Icanttakethisanymore · 19/03/2025 15:12

I honestly think this is something you notice but no-one else will. We are moving and changing expressions all the time - you never stare head on and deadpan at someone for any length of time for them to even notice this, let alone decide it's a bad thing.

CanOfMangoTango · 19/03/2025 15:13

No one has a symmetrical face.

I wouldnt describe you as having a droopy eye at all. Yes there's some differences but they're really subtle. I had to look quite hard at the picture to understand what you meant.

I think going down the fillers and botox route won't help.

Birdist · 19/03/2025 15:13

You look lovely. Please don't mess about with your face- nobody is 100% symmetrical and you don't look any less symmetrical than anyone else.

namechangeforthisselfie · 19/03/2025 15:28

Oh gosh, thanks everyone. I thought it was much more obvious but maybe I’m just hyperfocusing on it!

I have a very similar problem and having my eyebrows micro bladed as I think one droopy brow really buggers up the look of my face. I have one amazing high arch brow and the other one…..has no arch. So I feel like I look odd when I look at pictures. In the mirror I don’t feel it’s ‘present’ but in photos you can clearly see one half of my face is more ‘relaxed’

I have had Botox for years, just in one place but last time I was there I asked what she thought and she said maybe try to ‘lift’ the face but she wasn’t sure it would do well - I tried it and it didn’t work 😜

I sleep on my droopy side which I’m sure does not help and since Xmas I now sleep in a huge eye mask thing and try to sleep on my back so I’m not squashing my face into the pillow. And that’s where I’m leaving it. I feel like I could go down the cosmetic rabbit hole but really why? To spend more time faffing about with a perfectly fine face? I can’t be arsed! And actually I think one eye is smaller than the other….so I can put filler in and bugger about but then I can’t change that my eye is smaller 😆

And I look at your picture and see lovely skin, bright eyes, GORGEOUS eyebrows and a perfectly normal face and hopefully that’s what people see when they mine.

So that was a long winded way of saying I have no advice but I understand!

Ketzele · 19/03/2025 16:49

You're very pretty! Please try to learn to enjoy it.

LongOutBreath · 19/03/2025 18:21

You look gorgeous!

Most faces have some assymetry. If you are beautiful (like you) it only adds character, it doesn't detract from looking good.

If you don't believe me look up some of the Made in Chelsea cast from earlier series. It was before younger people did so much Botox and fillers and they look individual and perfectly lovely. Lots of those early cast members have now had the works and they don't look like the perfectly lovely, individual women approaching middle age that they could have. They look... Homogeneous? Not old but not young? It's a weird, unhealthy aesthetic IMO, although I understand the pressures they're under. Presumably these women could afford the very best.

Overtheatlantic · 19/03/2025 18:41

You’re incredibly beautiful. I also have facial asymmetry and I think it’s because I was delivered by forceps?

henlake7 · 19/03/2025 18:48

Best thing to do is not look too closely at photos! It always looks ten times worse I think.
If I take a 'mugshot' of myself I swear it looks like I've had a stroke I'm so lop sided! (TBF I also have one shoulder slightly higher so I think I'm just wonky).

We all look much better in person when animated.....at least that's what I tell myself!

Denime · 19/03/2025 18:51

It really doesn’t notice. I couldn’t even work out which cheek you mean.

Sinkintotheswamp · 19/03/2025 18:54

You look lovely. Don't fiddle around with your face!

And even supermodels don't have perfectly symmetrical faces. It would look weird.

goodnessidontknow · 19/03/2025 19:08

I think this is one of those things that no-one else would notice as we look at ourselves critically and we scrutinise each part rather than looking at the whole. As this is something you specifically pointed out I can see what you mean but I actually think most of it may be that you're holding your head at a slight angle. Your chin is ever so slightly to the side, I only noticed as I had a real problem with my neck and shoulders and I looked really uneven. it turned out to be my head posture. If you tilt the photo a tiny amount, everything looks level.
In motion this would not be at all noticeable. You have a lovely face so I genuinely don't think you need to change anything!

thatsfunnybecause · 19/03/2025 19:12

Your eyebrows aren’t even, one starts much further in than the other which is drawing attention to your eyelid which is slightly droopier.
eyebrows are the only thing I’d fix, it will make a massive difference

stanleypops66 · 19/03/2025 19:15

You’re really pretty and I’m not seeing your concerns. However I think when you take a selfie sometimes it flips your face around from how you usually see it in the mirror so it looks strange.

namechangeforthisselfie · 19/03/2025 19:23

Thanks for the kind messages, I’ve spent the last few months convinced that I need eyelid surgery and I’ve been examining ‘mugshot’ style photos like this all that time which is definitely making it seem much worse! I had one surgeon tell me I needed a brow lift, which hadn’t ever crossed my mind!

I’m going to focus on learning a bit about makeup since it’s something I rarely wear and have no clue about, rather than messing with more Botox or fillers etc!

@thatsfunnybecause they were just done today (micro blading) so are a bit swollen and red. They still need to settle and heal but if they’re not even I can get them fixed at a top up in 8 weeks! :)

@henlake7 thank you, that made me laugh! I’ve thought the same about some of my mugshot style photos and how lopsided I look! But you’re right, it’s not a normal way that anyone really looks at someone and I think I’m just being hypercritical! I’ve lost just over 4 stone in the last year and feel like I’m on this mammoth self improvement journey now, but I need to stop zoning in on little flaws and look at the bigger picture I think!
