the fake ones seem to be made out of plastic or rubber rather than the resin the real ones are made out of. are they more likely to slip over in the plastic or rubber ones?

Have had fakes from Tesco and they seemed fine but I wonder if they are a bit sweatier than the real ones we now have.

shubiedoo · 13/05/2008 13:35

One important difference is the fake ones don't float; when ds threw his in the lake last summer, we could retrieve them more easily as they were genuine!

waffletrees · 13/05/2008 14:17

The fakes we bought did float and also didn't bankrupt us.

I bought ds2 some on Saturday from Pumpkin Patch BOGO half price.

He loves them and hasnt fallen over once in them. Also they are a nice wide fit as he has chubby wide feet!!

BexieID · 13/05/2008 14:23

I'm thinking of getting Tom some as well. I have a pair of the Skechers ones that really rubbed my feet on holiday last year.

oregonianabroad · 13/05/2008 14:26

my ds really wants some but he has narrow feet, any tips?

mummypig · 13/05/2008 14:26

My ds2 really didn't get on with the fake ones from Pumpkin Patch. They kept slipping off his feet. Whereas the real ones were fine. Perhaps he has narrow feet?

nappyaddict · 14/05/2008 09:47

how much are the pumpkin patch ones?

we have sainsbo ones for the boys....2 for £7. DS1 hasn't fallen, ds2 has BUT he could fall from standing still and they float too (they threw them in the bath ) My sainsbo ones form last year are rubbing now so am off to get some proper ones today for me

RosaLuxembourg · 14/05/2008 11:13

I got fakes for DD1 for £5 in the market. For the price, they seem fine and she loves the horrid things.

MingMingtheWonderPet · 14/05/2008 11:28

Fake ones do seem to be more sweaty.

Got DD fake ones last year and she got blisters, she has been ok with the real ones this year so far.

I'm sure overall they are fine though, and it was probably just my strange DD!
