the fine stripe imo

Beauregard · 13/05/2008 13:01

I prefer the Bandstand dress, both are nice though.

mylovelymonster · 13/05/2008 13:02

The satin blue is more bold and pretty - would it suit your colouring? Do you have blue eyes? Think the bandstand a bit dull in comparison.

bundle · 13/05/2008 13:03

the narrower stripes are obviously more flattering but you don't need that if you're a size 8

the wider stripes are a bit more "funky" and perhaps less adaptable in terms of future wears..what's it for?

mylovelymonster · 13/05/2008 13:04

Every pants style has its place & time in a girls' undies drawer, IME.

Wheelybug · 13/05/2008 13:04

ooh I had my eye on this one when the catalogue popped through the door - the satin blue is more striking I think but depends what its for.

mylovelymonster · 13/05/2008 13:05

Sorry! Posted that on wrong thread

ssd · 13/05/2008 13:05

size 8

lou33 · 13/05/2008 13:06

thin stripes

ssd · 13/05/2008 13:07

the blue, you'll get away with thicker stripes

I keep looking at that dress and wondering if I should buy it.

How are you gdg? Not seen you around for a WHILE

Gobbledigook · 13/05/2008 13:08

It's not for anything in particular - just every day (school run dress - ha ha!), wearing in teh evening on holiday. £23 is a bit of a bargain I think.

I think the wider blue stripe looks more interesting/different but I can't decide.

Colouring - I'm not tanned at the minute but I tan well, have dark blonde hair, blue/grey eyes.

Where did you get £23 from GDG ? My catalogue says £29 ... is there a discount somewhere is there ? is there ???

Gobbledigook · 13/05/2008 13:12

Hi Beety - I am fine! Work is quiet at the moment so I'm trying to make the most of it!

Great Plains catalogue came today and I quite like:

santiago dress

splash dress

lawn dress

Gobbledigook · 13/05/2008 13:12

wheely - there's 20% off summer dresses so it's £23.20 online.

Gobbledigook · 13/05/2008 13:14

I also buy through topcashback so I get % of that back as well. Even more of a bargain!

ooooh oooh thank you too exciting... will have a look thanks. I had a summer dress from Jooules last year and it was lovely but too big now (hoorah !).

Gobbledigook · 13/05/2008 13:17

Argh - I can't decide!! I don't want to pay to send one back though!

Wheely - what are the sizes like - I've never bought from there before. My Boden dresses are all 8 - shall I go for 8 here as well?

OP posts:
mylovelymonster · 13/05/2008 13:19

Euww Santiago and lawn dresses won't do a thing for you - very frumpy, and you sound too gorgeous so don't go for those!!!!!!!

Deffo go for satin blue!!! Lovely shape too.

Wheelybug · 13/05/2008 13:27

I think similar to boden so go for an 8.

Am about to order it in the satin blue (in the catalogue it doesn't look so bright a blue so will wait and see what it looks like in RL).

Am slightly put off by the site being in dollars - don't remember that last year but it seems to say despatched from UK so....

Wheelybug · 13/05/2008 13:29

Arrgh it won't let me choose a shipping option ....

Gobbledigook · 13/05/2008 13:31

Dollars? I'm not seeing it in dollars!

Hmm, the satin blue looks subdued blue in the photo of the lady wearing it and much brighter when you just click on the dress.

I think I'm going for the narrower stripes - playing it safe!

Have just ordered this one from Boden too so will be interesting to see what that's like.

I do like my summer dresses!

really GDG - I'm getting all the info in dollars even in your link and although its a UK site all the info is about sending to the US..... How bizarre.... Might have to ring.

Wheelybug · 13/05/2008 13:38

OK I was being an eejit and should have found the flag on the home page.

Anyway, some useful info - apparently the dresses are coming marked a size up than they are (so yours will say its a 10 but will be an 8).

Gobbledigook · 13/05/2008 13:44

I've just ordered mine and I didn't see anything referring to US - how bizarre!
