Best Collagen you’ve seen results with?

NotMariah · 17/03/2025 23:09

I’ve switched around collagen and when one ended a while ago just stopped thinking maybe it was too woo and took it as a chance to save some money!

however. I need to start again.
please say what you’ve personally seen results with?
I prefer powder and as un bulked / processed as possible - I’m typically UPF diet these days
I can’t afford loads …30 month tops (unless a miracle worker?!)

Main ones over years used absolute gels - the flavour was disgusting, but it seemed good
beauty pie - pink one - odd consistency but good result
beauty pie - chocolate one- meh
feel - liked but ran out of it one day and here we are!

thanks

Bumping for you as I'm interested as well. I'm currently using vital proteins but haven't seen much of a difference, mind you I've only been using it a month.

PieonaBarm · 18/03/2025 05:33

Willpowders, completely clean, grass fed, traceable type 1 and 3 bovine collagen peptides. Dissolve tastlessly in any liquid/food. I have it in a coffee but people mix into yoghurts, plain water, spag bol, porridge etc etc. If you hang around the website you'll get a pop up for 10% off your first order, and they do it in 400g, 1kg and travel sachets.

PieonaBarm · 18/03/2025 05:35

A 400g bag lasts me a month easily, probably more like 6 weeks. My hair and nails grow quickly, my gut health is better and my skin (I'm peri) is better than it was.

travelforthesoul · 18/03/2025 05:41

Im using Ancient & Brave Ive got match tea and cacoa collagens. I quite like the cacao one and add it to my coffee, its not great at dissolving completely but tastes good.

I think it is proven that it doesn't work :
This is from the BBC website
Veraitch goes further, stating: “It’s one of the biggest cons in the beauty industry. It’s true that as we get older, our collagen declines. It gets broken down and we produce less collagen. But unfortunately, by ingesting collagen, it just goes in one end and out the other. We don’t integrate that collagen into the areas where the collagen is lost.”

https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/swedish-collagen-deluxe-12500-mg-marine-collagen-500-ml-20-dose-60062461
this stuff is amazing been taking it a year and it works! Buy on the subscription service and it’s £18 a month, take a 20ml shot a day instead of the recommended 25ml and it lasts until your next bottle arrives. I find 20 ml is more than enough to see results.

results from taking it -

  • loads of new hair growth, bald patches filling in, first time I have felt comfortable wearing my hair down in years
  • hair texture has changed significantly I’m no longer a frizzy ultra thin haired mess
  • knee pain has gone (that was my first result)
  • haven’t had any incidences of dry skin on my face for around 8 months
  • more energy, sleep better
  • stronger nails
  • and just generally healthier all round
i can’t recommend this stuff enough! Get ordering.

Agree - what a fabulous marketing ploy for beef/milk farmers to make some cash out of old cattle bones - or worse, chopping down vital rainforests to grow herds of cows to be ground up into face powders.

But that’s not the goal is it- I thought adding collagen to the bloodstream was supposed to prompt the body to produce more of it?

This product is so easy to use and dependant on the flavour you buy, add in smoothies or your coffee, in breakfast yogurt, it’s very fine and mixes well. I’ve been using for just over 3 months now and definitely feel my skin & nails have improved. I ordered another order on Sunday afternoon and it has was delivered within 3 days
Always had good communication about my order and delivery.
If anyone is looking for a referral code for £10 off your 1st order I have one which is

I am enjoying this product and have used a couple of different collagen companies but much prefer this product.

I use willpowders too. Definitely stronger and quicker growing nails and hair seems thicker. Has really helped my gut health too. I real feel it when I don’t take it.

guestusername · 15/09/2025 20:09

Have a look at Nutrition Geeks. I am seeing some good results with that and biotin tabs

BeeMyBaby · 15/09/2025 20:50

Ive read a few research papers on it and plenty found there were improvements, but obviously some will have found none, I would trust scientific studies over a singular person on the bbc. I am using the nutrition geeks one, not seen much difference on my face but knees are a bit better, im only one month in.

What I can say about Elavate is that after using for over 3 months my skin is clear and soft, I can actually put nail varnish on my nails and they are no longer brittle. I’ve already got my next order organised which is reduced as part of their loyalty scheme. No turning back for me.

HotTiredDog · 16/09/2025 20:21

I’m sorry, I just don’t get it - how can a small amount of a particular protein make such a difference? I mean, it’s a very common protein, a macronutrient, not a micronutrient such as a vitamin or mineral.
I’m minded to not bother spending money on something that is viewed as a bit of a con - however I can’t ignore the (presumably genuine) comments here.

Exactly, a much cheaper alternative would be to increase your protein intake.

It absolutely doesn’t work the way the adverts imply. Ingesting collagen doesn’t boost or repair your own, it’s broken down in your gut into amino acids and then either utilised by your body or flushed out. There is some possible evidence that it can help with IBS/digestion, but nothing conclusive.

https://theibsdietitian.com/blog/collagen-supplements-for-ibs#:~:text=The%20findings%20revealed%20that%20supplementing,acts%20as%20very%20weak%20evidence.

Those who feel any benefit are possibly just seeing a difference due to increased protein intake, but not because it’s collagen.

There is no collagen in nails.

RuttleTuttle · 16/09/2025 20:44

Collagen does not pass through the stomach, it is destroyed in the stomach. Additionally, here is no collagen in hair. And there is no collagen in nails.

Just a few facts that some people might find useful!

Let me introduce you to a thing called a "placebo". It's even more effective than "collagen"!

ChillyPanda · 16/09/2025 20:53

If you watch skin expert John McGrath on the recent Zoe podcast on you tube you may rethink the amount of money you spend on collagen powders. Focus on making sure dietary protein is high enough .. believe it or not .. all food protein sources contain collagen and for cheaper prices. Better bet is supporting your body to make skin / hair / nails / bone by getting vitamin c levels up as this accelerates the formation of collagen from digested proteins ( amino acids) and taken as fruits has polyphenols which act to boost the collagen forming activity of the C ( ex molecular biologist skin scientist here )

What scientific papers and published in which peer-reviewed journals please? The consensus is they don’t work

Aurea · 16/09/2025 22:23

I use Correxiko collagen as its double hydrolysed with a dalton weight of 500-1000 which makes it more absorbable.

Nugg · 16/09/2025 22:23

So Collagen

Hellsbellsy · 16/09/2025 23:12

Ingested collagen doesn’t go straight to your skin , your digestive system just breaks it down into amino acids like any other protein (see Harvard Health Publishing, 2020). Any improvements people ‘think’ they see, like faster hair growth or smoother skin, are more likely the placebo effect or simply the result of eating extra protein, which your body uses for general repair and growth.

Often when people make a decision to fall for the marketing claims, they are also adapting their diet, and exercise at the same time as a “health kick” and then presume the results are from the collagen because that is what the marketing has brain washed them to think.

Be very careful of instagram and the likes influencers, who are NOT medically or scientifically trained and who have made it their business to make unbelievable false claims just to sell their own products!

Don't listen if they’re trying to sell you something is a good rule of thumb!
